Hosted by Miz B at Should Be Reading

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
*Grab your current read
*Open to a random page
*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
*BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
*Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers.

“Don’t shoot!” Decker screamed.
And then the night turned deathly quiet.
He dropped his voice to a whisper “Can you hear me?”

This week’s question somes from Chad, Katrina’s hubby.  Thanks Chad!!

Today’s Question-Week #7
How did you get into reading? When and how/why did you really become “a reader”?
My Response:
Since I don’t remember and am not sure if this is the truth, but my mother would tell everyone, that it was due to her.  She would relate how she would put me on the potty for training, give me a book, and I would sit there a lot longer than the usual allotted time, and be very content.  Ironic thing is that I did the same thing with my boys during that toddler stage.  I do remember, however, always loving the smell of a new book and having the ability to visualize the story in my mind.  I’m not sure how old I was at that time but I can still remember reading The Diary of Anne Frank in elementary school and to this date, many, many years later, I can still recall the visuals created for that book.

  1. I agree that the reading bug sometimes starts at a very young, I know before I could read I always enjoyed listening to someone read to me, be it my sisters or my mother. However, when I could figure out the words on my own, I loved trying to read from that moment on.

  2. Wow! That is one of those books that stays with you. I still have nightmares about what she lived through!

My teaser this week is from All I Vant for Christmas

You can learn a bit more about my reading history at .

  3. Attention getting teaser! I developed a love for reading when I was in 9th grade and had to stay home with an illness for 9 weeks.

  4. Here is my teaser from Expiation by Greg Messel (page 1):

My sudden and unexpected return to Seattle was about to trigger a chain of events which completely change my life. Three months from this date my career, my life in San Francisco with my daughter and everything I had known before would be radically altered.

  5. Okay, help me here I must be blind. Where do you want me to vote & for what? YO, A LITTLE HELP HERE!! Did you here they restarted the fence one? Dang, I had over 100 votes before, and all of a sudden I had 10. Sheesh! I want my mama!

  6. Great teaser!

I can't ever remember NOT loving to read. But I guess I really fell in love when my mom gave me her set of 1950s Nancy Drew books. Started reading Nancy and never looked back.
