Today’s question:
If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop and look it up right away?
My answer:
It depends on the edition I am reading. If I am reading from my Kindle and/or Sony, then yes, I will look up the definition right away. If it is a print copy, I may look it up at a later time. What I try to do is read the sentence/paragraph and try to figure out the meaning from the context. Sometimes there isn’t the opportunity of having a dictionary at hand, for example if I am reading at a doctor’s office or waiting in the car waiting for my husband to “run in, I’ll only be a second” at one of his favorite stops like Home Depot/Lowe’s because I know that his second gives me at least 30 min of reading time.

it is so easy to loose track of time in Lowe’s….
I guess a book is ok if you don’t want to go in too..lol
Nice mailbox! Enjoy! And have a great holiday….
Here’s MY MONDAY MEMES POST
Tea with Death looks like an intriguing read. I would love to read that book as well! Section 132 looks interesting as well. I wouldn’t mind r’eading both of these. Enjoy!

Section 132 sounds good…. as for looking up words it depends on how engaged I am in the book – if I am eating up every word, then I need to know what it means 🙂
I like your answer. If I can’t contextually figure the word out and I’m not on my Nook, I might look the word up later.
I usually try to figure it out from the context too but will look it up to confirm that I’m right. Enjoy your new books!
Nice list of books this week. I feel like I’m the only person who hasn’t read a Larissa Lone book. I really do need to rent a book of hers from the library.
Happy reading,

I like to look mine up right away. I have a dictionary app on my phone, so it makes it easy to do! My MM: http://whatsontheshelf.wordpress.com/2012/05/28/musing-monday-11/
I agree with your answer completely.
Section 132 looks of interest to me too. Yes, Cmash, Lethal Rider came to me unexpectedly also. I wasn’t sure what to make of that and am glad to know it wasn’t just me having forgotten I requested it somewhere. (I did check my emails to see if I had requested or entered a contest for it.)
Thanks for linking and visiting and your kind comments on MM.
Happy reading!
Section 132 looks interesting. I can’t wait to see what you think of it! As for looking up words, sometimes I look them up if a word really stumps me.
The books look interesting! Love your blog, so happy to be part of the Musing Mondays so I can find lovely new blogs to add to my blog trolling list!
I am a word-hound so I have to say I already do this for word of the day challenges which I have done since I was in middle school. BUT love my Kindle. MOST of the time I can figure it out contextually, but I look it up and add it to the list… and… well HERE IS MY MM
Enjoy those mailbox books!
Good books! A couple of those look a little scary. I like! Enjoy them. 🙂
