Friday Memes

From An Island Life:
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

This past weekend, I announced that my youngest son got engaged. They live out of state (5hours away) and they are driving in tonight leaving on Sunday. Since family and friends want to see them, my DH and I are having a pool party on Saturday so that people can stop by, whenever they can, to see them.

So my question is:

When you are having a large gathering, how many days in advance do you start preparing for it?

  1. I make lots of plans in my head but I tend to be a procrastinator and do most things at the last minute. Congrats to your son!

  2. Congratulations to your son! We have only had to plan family birthday parties for our boys. With these I do a general plan a few weeks before and gather items we need the week of the party.

  3. About two months. I am having a Family Reunion Aug. 18th & since my family has not changed since I was little they’ve got something else to do (no surprise here, but it does make me sad). I’ve changed my theme to a reunion of friends and many are coming & it’s a BYOB & Bring a dish to pass. So what are you bringing????

  4. I generally don’t have large gatherings! I hate hosting. LOL I’m having a big party for hubby’s 40th birthday on 9/1, though, and I’m already working on that!

  5. First of all, congratulations to your son and his fiance! That’s great 🙂

Second, I haven’t really done a lot of large gatherings, but we usually start planning a week or so in advance and as the day comes closer, we start preparing for it 3 days prior-cleaning, shopping, cooking, etc.

    Have a great weekend!

  6. I’m a junkie for pressure and stress so I usually start everything last minute.

But I’d say two to five days before, so that you aren’t stressing out.

And girl I LOVE the new do. I mean the blog!

    Very very nice!
