Aloha Friday

From An Island Life:
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

Lately I have been inundated, more so than usual, with spam both in my mail spam folder and on my blog. The other day I deleted 19 spam comments on my blog and in a day I get up to 20-40 in my mailbox. Which brings me to my questions for today:

My Questions:
Have you seen an increase in your spam,
both in your mailbox and blog?
Approximately how many a day for each, mailbox and blog?

  1. It does seem to increase this time of year – people trying to make more money for the holidays. Luckily since I have a WordPress Plugin called Askimet, it siphons them out so they’re not as annoying – and Gmail is great for filtering, too, so I don’t have to deal with them when I download all my bazillion messages via Outlook. 🙂

  2. In my e-mail google is pretty good at keeping it in Spam, and blogger does a good job at keeping the spam out of my comments. I am a freak spam deleter, I hate it.

I mentioned you today in my post, hop on over and find out what I revealed about you. ; )

  3. Spam seems to cycle on all fronts. Thanks to Akismet, I don’t have to worry about most making it into the comments of my blog. I can keep tabs on things and watch what is going on behind the scenes.

  4. I’m seriously getting closer to making that .com decision, but I want to do it as cheaply as I can being as the medical bills are getting higher around here. Thanks for the info and about the copyright. If you put your name on pictures no one can use them is what I heard and that’s very easily done. Let me know if you don’t know how. Otherwise I would google it or I can and find out for you. As far as spam. Be extra careful of email that says a friends name even my name but has no subject those are usually spam. I agree with Stacy this time of year there’;s an awful lot & I noticed the porn and especially dating services are picking up.

  5. It got really bad on my other blog. The spammers figured out how to get through the spam protection. Then I added a second spam protection and I haven’t had a problem since. I’ve probably lost a few good comments though. As far as my email goes, it has actually gone done a lot. I’m assuming the Nigerians ran out of money or something….

  6. Although Gmail is pretty good about Spam, I have been getting 10 more a day than usual lately. Our blog has been getting hit with a lot of spam. I’d say 100 a day.
