Synopsis (via GR)

From Sandie Jones, the author of the Reese Witherspoon x Hello Sunshine Book Club Pick and New York Times bestseller The Other Woman, comes an addictively readable new domestic suspense about a wife, her husband, and the woman who is supposedly her best friend.

THE WIFE: For Alice, life has never been better. With her second husband, she has a successful business, two children, and a beautiful house.

HER HUSBAND: Alice knows that life could have been different if her first husband had lived, but Nathan’s arrival into her life gave her back the happiness she craved.

HER BEST FRIEND: Through the ups and downs of life, from celebratory nights out to comforting each other through loss, Alice knows that with her best friend Beth by her side, they can survive anything together. So when Nathan starts acting strangely, Alice turns to Beth for help. But soon, Alice begins to wonder whether her trust has been misplaced . . .

The first mistake could be her last.

My Thoughts

Without reiterating the synopsis, I will say what made me choose this book to read and what I thought.

Once again, from the FB book groups I follow, I saw a lot of “buzz” about it so knew I wanted to read it. Before I started reading it, I did see some reviews, some that stated that had a slow start. However, I didn’t feel that was the case or it was because the Prologue pulled me right in and I wanted to know “who it was” from the Prologue (sorry..no spoiler…you will just have to read it).

This year I have been reading mostly Psychological Thrillers and trying so hard to figure them out. I thought that with this book that I had solved the “who”, which I was partly right but the motive, what and why eluded me.

But then, with the intense conclusion of the book, I realized I had been partially right but that was just a smidgen of the story.

The suspense was fluid. The characters believable, but at the same time, I was leery of each of the cast because the Prologue was always at the forefront of my mind. Many twists and turns!

This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Jones but will be checking out her previous books.

Another great Psychological read!!!
