Synopsis:

Code Blood by Kurt Kamm

Colt Lewis, a rookie fire paramedic, is obsessed with finding the severed foot of his first victim after she dies in his arms. His search takes him into the connected lives of a graduate research student, with the rarest blood in the world and the vampire fetishist who is stalking her. Within the corridors of high-stakes medical research laboratories, the shadow world of body parts dealers, and the underground Goth clubs of Los Angeles, Lewis uncovers a tangled maze of needles, drugs and maniacal ritual, all of which lead to death. But whose death? An unusual and fast-paced LA Noir thriller.

My Thoughts and Opinion:

I have never read a book about vampires, however, after reading the synopsis and seeing that there was also a medical aspect and having worked in the medical field, my curiosity was piqued. And glad I did.

Colt Lewis, a recent paramedic grad and working at part of his orientation is faced with his first real trauma and fatality. Even though his training specifically states do not get emotionally attached to a patient, he just can’t help himself after making a promise to her that everything will be OK. He is now on the hunt to make her whole (vague to not include spoiler).

Marcus, a self-proclaimed vampire and hacker, just happens to be at the accident scene and Colt has a gut feeling that something is not right with him.

A Li, a research assistant has the rarest of blood, Bombay.

How are these 3 connected? The story takes place over a 7 day period and is a heart pounding read. Can Colt keep his promise to the victim to have some closure?

An exciting read!!!
