Smorgasbord Saturday

SATURDAY
Photobucket

No memes today  :(.    Usually on a Saturday I will do my weekly to-do computer blog list, such as updating my meter bars, update librarything widget, etc etc.  And then I usually post a question.  Here on a Saturday its a mini me of “Slapdash Sunday” and “Bloggiesta”
So I was thinking, Photobucket what about a blog hop Smorgasbord Saturday.    We can link up, and you can post something on your blog, for example, questions of “how to do this”, or maybe you found a neat little gadget for your blog and want to share, or maybe something big is happening on your blog this coming week that you want to talk about, or just something that is on your mind and you want the advice from your bloggy friends, etc. etc.  So today one of my questions will be “what do you think of a blog hop “Smorgasbord Saturday”?
My other question is about BBAW.  I am really torn about this.  I hear that there are many fun things that go along for that week.  But on the other hand, do I really want to nominate myself…that just doesn’t seem right to me.  If I was to throw my hat in the ring it would be for “new blog”.  The closing of the sign-up is for July 7th, so the clock is ticking.  Did you nominate your blog?  Have you participated in this in the past?  Are you also on the fence as to what to do?  Would love to hear from you about this topic.

Yesterday I didn’t get that much reading done.  My friend Donna, a friend of 30 years….wow….that’s a long time and to see it in writing makes me feel ancient) visited and we just sat and talked for hours about everything.  We even tried to solve world problems but didn’t quite accomplish that.  But we had fun doing it.  Back to the challenge, this is how many hours I read:
Yesterday:  6 hours
Challenge to date:  28.5 hours

Welcome to the Saturday Spotlight, where each week we will have a chance to showcase something new. It will be the place to gather, talk and shine the “spotlight” on all things book related. Not to mention a place to discover new to us authors, characters, series and places.
Each week Lori will pick a new theme for us to share our favorite of, and every once in a while I’ll make it a “readers choice” week where you can spotlight whatever you want.
Some of the different things we’ll be spotlighting are our favorite book, author, female/male character, location, murder weapon, series, other book blogs, giveaway sites, places to get our books and just about anything else book related.
  Today Lori has chosen:

FAVORITE FEMALE MYSTERY AUTHOR !!
This is not easy to pick just one..there are quite a few that I will pick up their book and know, it will be an enjoyable page turning read.   Authors like Lisa Jackson and Wendy Corsi Staub.  However, I was lucky to be introduced to Karen Rose from The Hachette Book Group.

I was asked to read and review a mystery by this author that I hadn’t heard of.  Before reviewing, I would always stick with authors that I knew of.  Only having a couple of “avid readers” in my circle of family and friends, I don’t get much in the way of recommendations.  So my reading and reviewing schedule had gotten to this book.
Photobucket
I found it to be amazing as a suspense/mystery read.  It was one of those books that I call “just one more chapter”.  Had me guessing to the end with twists and turns throughout.  I knew that I had to read all of her books that I have been missing out on.  I told myself that once I get caught up with my “requested review reads,  I will be purchasing many of her books to my EReader.  But The Hachette Book Group supplied me with another gift…they have offered for me to read and review Ms. Rose’s newest book…I can’t wait to get my hands on this one
Photobucket
I can’t wait to start reading I Can See You and still plan on reading her novels that I have missed out on for so many years.  If you haven’t read one of her books, you like mystery and suspense, this is one author you have to read.
One of the great things in becoming part of the “book blogging neighborhood” is now I have many people recommending books, so much so that my tbr list has grown to becoming huge.  Since reading reviews from other bloggers, putting many books on my list, I know have to call my tbr list…my tbr bucket list.
Happy Reading!

This week my spotlight is shining on my ……

FAVORITE MALE MYSTERY AUTHOR
James Patterson

The subject of a Time magazine feature called, “The Man Who Can’t Miss,” James Patterson is the bestselling author of the past year, bar none, with more than 16 million books sold in North America alone. In 2007, one of every fifteen hardcover fiction books sold was a Patterson title. In the past three years, James has sold more books than any other author (according to Bookscan), and in total, James’s books have sold an estimated 170 million copies worldwide. He is the first author to have #1 new titles simultaneously on The New York Times adult and children’s lists and is the only author to have five new hardcover novels debut at #1 on the list in one year—a record-breaking feat he’s accomplished every year since 2005. To date, James Patterson has had nineteen consecutive #1 New York Times bestselling novels, and holds the New York Times record for most Hardcover Fiction bestselling titles by a single author (46 total), which is also a Guinness World Record.
Patterson is the creator of the #1 new detective series of the past dozen years, featuring Alex Cross and including the Hollywood-adapted “Along Came a Spider” and “Kiss the Girls,” starring Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman. He is also the creator of the #1 new detective series of the past five years, featuring Lindsay Boxer and the other members of the Women’s Murder Club, from which the ABC television drama series was adapted. He has authored books behind six films on the Hollywood fast-track, including the upcoming Maximum Ride movie forthcoming from Avi Arad, the producer of X-Men and Spiderman.

I read my 1st James Patterson novel years ago and was hooked.  Every one of his books, that I have read since, I know will be a page turning, can’t put down read.  I have some catching up to do in the Alex Cross, Women’s Murder Club and Michael Bennett books.  It seems that he can write exceptional books faster than I can read.

It is a gorgeous day here in New England today.  The sun is shining and its a beautiful WARM spring day.  And to make it even more beautiful,  I recieved an email this morning from Karen over at Bookin’ With Bingo.  I was the lucky winner of the Eye Glass Giveaway. Perfect timing…I picked out sun readers so I can sit outside and read.  Thank you Karen.  And if you haven’t visited her site, head on over there, you won’t be disappointed.
