A Bit Of Me

Hosted by Danielle at There’s A Book From Danielle’s blog:

We all leave our “footprint” on the world, in one way or another. We each, individually, do something or are someone that makes the world a little better just by being here. I created this weekly meme to get to know the blogging community I love just a bit better. To know what makes them tick, outside of books, that is. Each week I will post a question to be answered in the following week’s “A Bit of Me(Me)”. Check back each Saturday to get the info for next week’s post and link up with your current post right here.
This week’s question:  Who is the person you admire the very most?

Danielle posts the questions for “A Bit Of Me” a week in advance and usually I come up with the answers right away because they are fun questions.  This week was different.  A lot of thought went into this question.  My first thoughts were family members and famous individuals, however, there was also a group of individuals that also came to mind but I didn’t know their names except for maybe 1 or 2.  Not only did I not know their names,   but there are so many of them and again, I have only met 1 or 2 of them.  Who do I admire the most?  The young men and women in our military, who have selflessly given their lives for our freedom.  They have left their families, so that we can enjoy ours.  They are true heroes!!!!

What about you?  Who do you admire most?

When No One Is Watching by Joseph Hayes
Synopsis (back of book): On the eve of announcing his run for Congress, a charismatic Chicago politician causes a deadly accident. Panicked, he frames his best friend, a good-hearted alcoholic, and flees the scene. As one man tries to pick up the pieces of his shattered life, the other embarks on a meteoric rise to political stardom. But when a dogged detective digs deeper into the case, the political superstar must decide just how far he is willing to go to keep his dark secret. Author Joseph combines page-turning suspense with a poignant tale of inspiration and redemption as he asks, is “the greater good” just a lie we tell ourselves to justify the sins we commit when no one is watching?

This week’s question:   What’s your favorite weekend activity?

In the summer, it definitely would revolved around our pool.  If it’s just hubby and I, then it would be a relaxing day, with me reading both by and in the pool and throwing something on the grill to eat.  If family and/or friends stop by, no reading, just enjoying their company, laughing, some frozen drinks and cooking on the grill.

And another one of our favorite weekend activities, which we do year round, would be to get together with our very good friends and play HiLoJack.  Girls against the Guys.  And of course, Girls usually win!!!
and OF COURSE………..

This week’s question:   If you were going to be stuck on a deserted island, which 5 books, movies, people and foods would you take along
This is an easy question for me this week.  And if I am reading it correctly, I think I am to list 5 in each category.
Movies:
None since I’m not a movie person, I would leave that to the rest of the family.
People
carpool

Easy…the husband, 2 sons and their girlfriends.  Their is no one else I would rather be with.  Matter of fact I am already hinting that my Christmas present from the hubby be a family vacation, so being on this island, might be it  lol.

Books
reading book

A little cheating here.  I would bring my Sony EReader since there are lots of tbr books waiting to be read and my Kindle for the same reason plus it has WiFi so in case I run out of books, I can get more.

Food:
Pizza, fruit, ice cream, pasta, and of course………………………………….

…………………………………………..chocolate!!!!!!

This week’s question:  Are you fond of cooking?

I used to love to cook.  Was a lousy baker, that I will admit, but cook, yes.  Especially in the winter.  I would spend hours preparing meals for suppers, I was fortunate to be a SAHM for our 2 sons, and every night when the hubby got home from work, the four of us would eat together and discuss our day.  I always had to prepare more because in our house, I never knew if the boys invited friends to eat with us too.  Unfortunately, it is very hard for me now since I am so limited in my movements due to the complications with my back.  I am lucky that I have a very understanding and supportive husband.  Plus it is just the two of us now, we still eat together but majority of nights it is take out not the “from scratch” meals that I would prepare.

This week’s question:  Name one (or two or three) things you miss about being a child.
Read more: http://www.theresabook.com/category/a-bit-of-meme/#ixzz1QHhARKNY

Danielle has asked the perfect question, at least for me at this time of my life, which makes it so very easy to answer.  And I am sure I am not the only one who feels this way.  What do I miss most?  The carefree, innocence, worry free, no responsibility, no stress and feeling and knowing that you are unconditionally loved and cared for each and every day.

When I think back, I guess there were some of the above, but if only we knew how minor they would be compared to being an adult.  Cleaning our rooms, doing school work, staying up a little later than normal, wishing we could play outside longer than when the street lights came on or even if in the summer if we could get ice cream from the Mr. Softee Ice Cream Truck.  I know…I’m showing my age…but wouldn’t it be fun to have those feelings again?  What about you?  What do you miss?
