Today’s Question:

What is the first book you remember reading? What about the first that made you really love reading?

My Answer:
This is a hard one since I have to remember from many, many years ago.  My mother always took credit for my reading addiction as she would say that she would always give me books while I was in my playpen…this I don’t remember.  I do remember that I always loved books and and every month while in elementary school we would get an order form from Scholastic (?) and I would ask my parents if I could buy some and luckily they always said yes. I also remember winning a contest in 2nd grade and the prize was the book PT109 by John F. Kennedy.  But I think the book that really hooked me and left an impression, to this day, was The Anne Frank Diary.  I can even remember the imagery I formed while reading that book.  I wish I had kept a journal from when I started reading to today just to see how many books I have read in my life, it has to be thousands.

Today’s Question:
Which fictional character (or group of characters) would you like to spend a day at the beach with? Why would he/she/they make good beach buddies?
My Answer:
Great question!!!  I recently read and reviewed (06/16/10) Beachcombers by Nancy Thayer.  For those who haven’t read the book or the reviews, it is about 3 sisters who go home, to Nantucket, one summer to deal with past and present issues in their lives.  The “sisters” came to life on the pages to the point that I felt I knew them.  Even though each one had their quirks and problems, they were also fun loving.  And the descriptions of Nantucket, beautiful, whereas I could picture the island that I have always wanted to visit.  So my beach buddies would be the Fox sisters, Abbie, Emma and Lily and it would have to be on the quaint island of Nantucket!

Today’s question:
Do you ever listen to book-related podcasts?

If so, which ones and why? (Include the URLs for people who aren’t familiar with them.)
Or, of course, there’s the flip side … did you even know that such a thing existed? (I ask because I know a lot of people who have no idea what a podcast is.)
My answer:
For me this is a lol question.  Technology is not my forte.  This is an easy one…No to all of the above.

Today’s Topic:
Well, folks, I don’t know about where you are, but right here, it’s HOT.

So … when you think about “hot reading,” what does that make you think of? Beach reading? Steamy romances? Books that take place in hot climates? Or cold ones?
My Response:
A few things come to mind.  I guess the first would be a steamy romance but I don’t usually read that genre.  What also comes to mind is reading while sitting by or in the pool with my book.  And HOT also makes me think of a really good book that I had trouble putting down.  And yes, it is hot and humid here in New England.  What do you think when you hear “Hot Reading”?
