  I usually join in for Wondrous Words Wednesday, however, I didn’t find any words that stumped me.  I will be visiting those bloggers that have new words so I can expand my vocabulary.

  Here in New England, we are expecting a snow storm with predicted snow fall close to a foot of snow.  What better way to spend this kind of day than by getting cozy and warm with a good book and a cup of coffee or hot chocolate….those are my plans for later today!!

Death of a Valentine by M. C. Beaton  (Rating-4)

  Synopsis: (from the book’s jacket)
Amazing news has spread across the Scottish countryside. The most famous of highland bachelors, police sergeant Hamish Macbeth will be married at last. Everyone is the village of Lochdubh adores Josie McSween, Macbeth’s newest constable and blushing bride-to-be. While locals think Josie is quite a catch, Hamish has a case of prenuptial jitters. After all, if it weren’t for the recent murder of a beautiful woman in a neighbouring village, there wouldn’t be a wedding at all.
  My Thoughts: This was the first book that I read, of many that have been written, by this author. After getting past the Scottish dialect, I was pulled in and rooting for Sergeant Macbeth. A small town police sergeant who uses his common sense and gut instincts in solving crimes. A modern day Mayberry mystery.
  My Opinion and Rating: I gave this book a rating of 4. An enjoyable and fast read. Macbeth was a character that one could not help but like. The two page prologue, which introduced the setting of Macbeth’s wedding and his feelings on this memorable day, grabbed this reader in and wanting more. The plot of the Valentine murder had me turning the pages to find out who-done-it from the multiple list of characters. A recommended mystery read !!!

I just returned from Lochdubh, Scotland assisting Hamish Macbeth in solving a Valentine’s Day murder (Death of a Valentine by M.C. Beaton) and am now in New York with Casey Jordan as she prepares to defend a 20 year old case (False Convictions by Tim Green).

Did everyone enjoy Super Bowl Sunday?  Did your team win?  What were your favorite commercials?
 We laughed at the Dorito ones, especially the dog and the bark collar and I just love the ETrade commercials with the little ones sitting in front of a computer…Adorable !!

Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about a random book. I’ve seen several bloggers mention reading multiple books this week. Do you frequently read more than one book at a time? Do you try to limit this to a certain number? Do you have different books for different purposes/topics?
I always have, and still do, read just one book at a time.  I feel that once I start a book, especially those for pure enjoyment, I want to give that read my full attention.  I would be afraid that if I read more than one, I would have to reread pages to recall characters, plot, etc.  I want to thoroughly enjoy my current read.
