July Monthly Wrap-Up (3 of 3)

Photobucket

Another month has flown by.  Can’t believe we are heading into August.  Won’t be long now for the retail stores will be decorating for Christmas (it seems to me that it gets done earlier each year).  I am pleased with my progress this month and my goal for August is to do the same or better.  As for challenges, not so good.  Back in Nov/Dec 2009, I signed up for many challenges being that this would be my first year participating.  I really thought I could get the majority completed, thinking that review requests would be far and few between.  I was mistaken but in a good way.  I have quite a few books in my “TBR Review Schedule” as you can see on my right sidebar and plan on cutting back a bit for the rest of the year until I get caught up.  I am amazed and never thought my blog would reach the level it has in 8 months, but enjoying every minute of it.  So on to the numbers:

Thoughts/Question for 2011:
The 50+ Challenge was created by Reading By Sea blog.  However, last month she announced that she was leaving the book blogging community.  I was excited when I originally saw this challenge because even though I signed up for the 100+ Challenge, I knew that it would be out of my range.  So I am wondering if I should offer it for 2011 but not sure how to go about it…setting up a challenge, place for postings, place for reviews, challenge button, etc etc.

What do you think?  Would you be interested?  Anyone want to assist me to become a host and get me started?  Or have you heard that another blog will be hosting?  I will be discussing this again for Slapdash Sunday but thought I would throw it out there today.

I found out about the Read-A-Thon late this afternoon via ExLibris’ Blog and signed up.  I need an incentive to do nothing but read.  So am telling family that I am unavailable (they will probably be happy lol) and will be starting as soon as I publish this post.  And am hoping that the weather is nice this weekend because my plan is to sit by the pool and/or get on my float, with my book and an iced coffee and read.  I want to finish my current read and on to the next, and maybe even finishing that one.  So the books I will be working on are:

And if I am lucky and “real life” doesn’t interfere, my next book will be:

So if I am a silent blogger this weekend, you will know why.  Want to join in.  Link provided above.  Wish me luck !!!!  Toodles….I am off to read……..

I posted about this last night.  But just a reminder if anyone is interested.  It is 6am here in New England, I have a few computer to-dos to get done, then I am off to read.  I plan on finishing my current read, Dare To Die by Carolyn Hart and then start I Can See You by Karen Rose.  I will also be reading The Sunday Journal newspaper, that counts too, doesn’t it?  I will be taking mini breaks to see if anything is happening on my blog.  So…DNBRD will be getting started shortly….
Will be updating as the day progresses:
  • I just finished Dare To Die by Carolyn Hart
  • BIG “senior moment…Started I Can See You by Karen Rose…sounded familiar, checked my personal tbr list….oops…had read it already as an EBook….so on to
  • Never Let You Go by Erin Healy

Do Nothing But Read Day !!!!

Does this not sound like fun ??!!??  Perfect excuse to let family members know that they are on their own for cooking, cleaning, etc etc.  Saw this in my GoogleReader via Caroline Bookbinder’s Blog.  Thank you Caroline.  Tomorrow is the 1st of 2 for 2010,  Do Nothing But Read Day.  I’m signed up, books are in my pile,  plan on getting a good night’s sleep, coffee pot set on automatic and ready to go.

This will be the first time participating, next date is for December 19th.  A little bit of info from site:
It’s almost here–the first Do Nothing But Read Day of 2010! To make things easier this time around, all you have to do is fill out a web form with your name, email address, and some other optional information.

Why do I need your information? Well, like last time, I’m going to do a drawing of everyone who officially signs up and give you a fantastic prize of books and other goodies. I promise I won’t give away anything you put in the form.
Bottom line: sign up and you could win stuff!
About DNBRD

In December of 2009, Amanda Lanyon-LeSage said something on Facebook that could possibly change the world. She merely wished that she could take a day off and do nothing but read. Her idea was seconded–and thirded and fourthed–and then it happened for real.
The first Do Nothing But Read Day was held on Sunday, December 20, 2009.
In 2010, there will be two editions of Do Nothing But Read Day:
June 27 and December 19.
Sign up for DNBRD on June 27, 2010
