The two men’s paths cross in the mountains north of Seattle, when Drake notices a horse trailer parked in an odd location and ends up disrupting a shipment. The operation that seemed benign when it worked smoothly now reveals to Hunt just how deadly his sideline has become. His suppliers unleash a singleminded fury known as The Chef to recover what’s theirs. And Drake’s and Hunt’s world is explosively invaded by forces they’ve never dreamed of.
Relentless and gorgeously written, with original characters and a vividly powerful sense of place, THE TERROR OF LIVING heralds the arrival of a writer who will be compared with the great suspense novelists.

Sound like a great read!
While I have ridden a horse before, it has been a very long time. Last time was a guided tour/ride in the Rocky Mountains. :O)

This looks like a terrific book! It's been a while since I've read one with a horse…
I did ride many years ago when I was younger but would not try it now. saubleb(at)gmail(dot)com

My mom rode dressage and had lots of medals and ribbons and awards for it, so one of my earliest memories is of my sister and I being hoisted up on to ponies and riding around the corral. As the family grew, horse riding became one of our rituals. I remember once when we were going down a hill, my foster sister flew head over heels across her horse's head and continued to roll down the hill – after that, we could never get her on another horse. I also recall once when I let the horse get control of the bit, and it broke from the woods across the field towards the barn, where I had to duck my head while it went through the door at a quick canter, and again once it went into it's stable. Knowing better than to get off a horse in the confines of a stable, I had to wait until someone came into the barn to lead the horse out so that I could dismount – the lesson – never loosen the reins enough for the horse to grab the bit! Anyway, thanks for the chance to win!

I haven't ridden a horse in about 40 years. I see them on the back roads near my house but don't think I'd want to try again. I think I'd be to achy afterward.
