From An Island Life:
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
If you’d like to participate, visit An Island Life answer the question and then post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

My Question:
Do you have a mantra?
My Answer:
Everything happens for a reason.

Book Blogger Hop
Hosted by Jennifer from CRAZY FOR BOOKS

In the spirit of the Twitter Friday Follow, the Book Blogger Hop is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and find new book-related blogs that we may be missing out on! This weekly BOOK PARTY is an awesome opportunity for book bloggers to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books! It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs that they may not know existed! So, grab the logo, post about the Hop on your blog, and start HOPPING through the list of blogs that are posted in the Linky list below!!
The Hop lasts Friday-Monday every week, so if you don’t have time to Hop today, come back later and join the fun! This is a weekly event! And stop back throughout the weekend to see all the new blogs that are added! We get over 200 links every week!!
Your blog should have content related to books, including, but not limited to book reviews.
If you start following someone through the Hop, leave a comment on their blog to let them know! Stop back during the week to see other blogs that are added! And, most importantly, the idea is to HAVE FUN!!

This week’s question:
“Do you read only one book at a time, or do you have several going at once?”

My answer:
I am a one book at a time reader.  I want to give my undivided attention, be totally focus, maybe become “friends” with some of the characters and transported into the story line and hopefully with the author’s writing style that will happen.  Reading more than one book, I would be afraid that I may get some of the details of events, characters, etc. confused with the other books.  Since I have been a one book reader for many years, and read strictly for enjoyment, I plan on continuing this type of reading schedule.

  1. I agree 1 at a time! But what about all the other books out there… eeep!

Pop past the blog and say HI!

  2. I'm also a one-book-at-a-time kind of reader. I don't worry about confusing details but I like devoting all my attention to one book. Have a great weekend 🙂

  3. I was never a two-at-a-time kind of reader until I began blogging and doing book reviews. Now I have a book at my bedside and one or two others on the go too. I find it easiest to read a non-fiction while reading fiction because it helps keep the ideas separate in my mind.

  4. This too shall pass. It always does.

And yes I do read more than one book at a time. Sometimes I get so in love with the books that I just ca'nt wait.

    Aloha!

  5. I have many mantras. One is the same as yours, which everything happens for a reason, and the other is when one door closes another one opens. I've also lived by the rule do unto others… Have a great weekend!!

  6. Not everyone can multi-task and nobody should. When it comes to book sure, I can't read four books simultaneously (or even two, for that matter!) but there are times I'll juggle as many as four books at a time depending on the subject matter, the urgency or more often both.

The real trick to this is what KINDS of books to juggle. Hop on over to my blog and learn the method behind my madness – http://www.howardshermannet

  7. Hopping through. I love how you describe becoming friends with a character. I feel like I can still do that and read multiple books, so that's what I end up doing.
