A Bit Of Me

From Danielle’s blog:
We all leave our “footprint” on the world, in one way or another. We each, individually, do something or are someone that makes the world a little better just by being here. I created this weekly meme to get to know the blogging community I love just a bit better. To know what makes them tick, outside of books, that is. Each week I will post a question to be answered in the following week’s “A Bit of Me(Me)”. Check back each Saturday to get the info for next week’s post and link up with your current post right here.
This week’s question:  Are you fond of cooking?

I used to love to cook.  Was a lousy baker, that I will admit, but cook, yes.  Especially in the winter.  I would spend hours preparing meals for suppers, I was fortunate to be a SAHM for our 2 sons, and every night when the hubby got home from work, the four of us would eat together and discuss our day.  I always had to prepare more because in our house, I never knew if the boys invited friends to eat with us too.  Unfortunately, it is very hard for me now since I am so limited in my movements due to the complications with my back.  I am lucky that I have a very understanding and supportive husband.  Plus it is just the two of us now, we still eat together but majority of nights it is take out not the “from scratch” meals that I would prepare.

  1. We used to have kids show up at dinner time too. I got very good at stretching meals – add another veggie or bread and everything goes farther. I love to bake, but have never particularly enjoyed cooking – only do it because I have to.

  2. I love that you used to make enough for all the unexpected guests, Cheryl. Talks around the evening meal are such great family times. I can imagine you must miss greater mobility and those meals – but the most important thing ultimately is the eating together, more than the what, which you still enjoy 🙂

  3. Thank goodness for husbands, right?! Mine helps out a lot around the house right now, especially with cooking. It's really nice especially since I'm exhausted taking care of two kiddos and constantly being sick. I'm hoping one day we'll get to where I am making more food for "unexpected" guests, that sounds fantastic! How fun a time that must have been for you! :o)
