GIVEAWAY ENTRY PAGE "ESCAPE" ENDED

AUGUST 17th to AUGUST 31st, 2011
ESCAPE
by BARBARA DELINSKY
SYNOPSIS (from Doubleday):
Publishers Weekly states it perfectly, “Delinsky nails it in her trademark latest, a captivating and moving story about a woman who’s had enough of her life and wants a fresh start. . . . “

Emily Aulenbach is thirty, a lawyer working in Manhattan. She had once dreamed of representing victims of corporate abuse, but she spends her days talking on the phone with victims of tainted bottled water. And it isn’t only work. It’s her sister, her friends, even her husband. She doesn’t connect to much in her life, period.
Emily leaves work early one day, packs her bag, and takes off. She heads north toward a New Hampshire town. During her college years, she spent a summer here. Painful as it is to return, she knows that if she is to right her life, she has to start here.

I had to make a fresh start several years ago following my divorce. It is hard to do, but it can be done. I like this book because it gives hope to the millions of women confronted with that situation due to abuse, loss of spouses/partners, work layoffs, and empty nests.

  10. Soooo many times I wanted to just pack up and start somewhere fresh!

  11. Oh yeah, I've thought about packing up and
moving. I was born and raised in Ohio and one day my ex and I were talking about moving somewhere we'd never lived, so we packed up and moved to Florida.

  14. Yes, I have. I was going through a stressful divorce and had just started a low paying and stressful job. One day, I just got into the car and drove. It felt so good but then, I turned around and headed back. I made it our of that terrible time.

  16. I have a good life and lovely family and think about packing up and running away about two or three times a week LOL Of course thinking about that old commercial "Calgon take me away" is a far cry from ever actually doing it 🙂 After all I might think a particular actor is yummy, but I would never even consider cheating on my hubs 🙂

  17. Hi, a follower on GFC. Yes, I have felt the urge to pack up and start over, maybe to have a quiet moment to myself 🙂 However, my house full of husband, kids, dogs, and cats are too dear to my heart to leave! Rae bestobooks@gmail.com
