Tuesday Memes

TUESDAY
Photobucket
Today will be the start of the new format, whereas all daily memes will be contained in one posting.  Since I have so much fun and enjoy participating in memes, I tend to go overboard on some days, so on Sunday, I asked you, the fabulous and fantastic followers, how you would rather have my memes posted and it was unanimous.  In one posting.  If for some reason, you change your mind, please feel free to let me know.  I can be flexible lol.  Drum roll please…..roll out the red carpet…..here we go lol.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
*Grab your current read
*Open to a random page
*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
*BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
*Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Jeff exhaled, shoving his hands in his pockets and finally turning toward her. “No. It’s…I mean, you were going to tell me eventually, right?”

Today’s question (#6)
This week’s question:

Where do you love to read? Note: I don’t mean where do you actually do most of your reading, because that might be the carpool line, the work cafeteria, or even the bathroom (if you have to escape from a few small children in order to read a chapter of your book). I mean, what are a few of the places where you LOVE to read?

I have answered this question on many different occasions and many different memes but am going to add a few more locations other than my daily reading sites.
Every day reading depends on the time of year.  I am usually in my favorite recliner, with afghan when it’s cold out.  During the summer either by or sitting on a “chair” float in the pool.
Now for all the other occasions.  While on vacation, which our favorites are Aruba or a cruise.  When on a plane, helps take my mind off flying and the time we are in the air, since I am a very nervous flyer.  If hubby and I are driving to a destination that takes approx 1 hour or more, I will read in the car, in between conversations. And now that I have the thought of these places in my mind, I think hubby and I will be having a discussion tonight at supper, that we are overdue.

Fall Into Reading 2010–Week’s Question #5 (2 of 2)

Hosted by Katrina from CALLAPIDDER DAYS
This week’s question:
When you read a book, do you read EVERYTHING? In other words, do you read the dedication, the acknowledgement, the foreword, the afterword, the prologue, the epilogue, the appendices, etc.? Or do you just read the “meat” of the book? Or is your approach somewhere in between?
My answer:
I am a somewhere in between reader.   I tend to either skim or even skip  over the acknowledgements, especially if it is a long list.  I am sure that I won’t know anyone on that page lol and when there is a long list, I understand it is important to the author and those named, but it’s like watching an award show.  The afterword depends on the subject matter.  Prologue and Epilogue are a definite because, to me that is also part of the “meat” of the story.  And if it’s a book I really enjoy, I look and hope for a synopsis of the next book that will be published and it goes on my tbr bucket list.
OK….your turn….what kind of reader are you?

Fall Into Reading 2010 Question #4 (2 of 2)

Today’s Question:
Now for this week’s question…

Do you ever dog-ear the corners of book pages to mark your spot? Or are you a faithful bookmark user, refusing to damage the pages of your books? OR do you have another way to keep track of where you are in a book?
My Answer:
Bookmark!!!  Dog-ear never!!  However, I do have 2 sets of bookmarks, some for in the house reading and some for when reading in public.  The “house” bookmarks are random ones without anything special associated to them.  They are the ones that get used the most and it shows, so I don’t feel bad when I have to discard them.  But then there are the special bookmarks that are only used when reading in public and would feel awful if they were damaged in any way.  Which happened with one of them but can not throw it away.  One of my favorite prayers is Footprints and I have a bookmark with that prayer.  My son’s dog got at it and now it has teeth marks in it but there is no way I can throw it away.  I also have some that were given as gifts, those are very special to me.  Two of my favorite bookmarks were given to me, one from my book bloggy friend Julie from Reading Without Restraint, which is a bookmark with a picture and logo of her blog.  Great idea don’t you think?  And the other,  which was given to me from another friend, is a 3D bookmark of roses.  Warning: can make you a little dizzy if you look at it from the wrong angle.  FYI: donations of bookmarks are accepted at this blog and greatly appreciated  LOL.

Okay, now for this week’s question:

Do you eat/drink while reading? If so, do you have some favorite reading snacks?
My answer:
Yes.  As far as drinks, it depends on the time of day and the time of year.  I usually would have a glass of water with a lot of ice cubes…has to be ice water.  But if its in the morning, hot coffee. at night either water, tea or hot chocolate.  Snacks are usually fruits or pretzel sticks.
Ok….now what about you….do you eat/drink while reading?
