Today’s question:
Other than working at a job, what is your biggest interruption to reading? What takes you away from your book(s)?

My answer:
For me, there are a two big reasons that take me away from reading but don’t  consider them interruptions.  The main one would be real life in general, daily tasks that need to be done around the house., day to day chores.   However, I think the  biggest cause of interruption, time wise, would be being on the computer, blogging and and taking care of business for Partners In Crime Tours .  Other than that and due to  the fact that I am now an empty nester, only hubby and I in the house, and not working outside of the home, once I do grab my current book and sit to read, there really aren’t any “interruptions” per se.

This week’s question:
What are you currently reading? And, is it better, as good as, or worse than your last read?

My answer:
I currently have 2 books going but finding I am reading one more than another.  Guess I am still a one book at a time person.

It’s The Lifeboat by Charlotte Rogan, which is also a current giveaway if you are interested…check out sidebar.  I am enjoying it and being the month of The Titanic Anniversary it seems fitting to be reading it now.

Compared to my last book?  Quite different.  This is fiction whereas my last read was a memoir.   The book is RagDoll Redeemed:  Growing Up In the Shadow of Marilyn Monroe by Dawn Novotny.   Amazing!!  Powerful!!  Sad!!  Inspirational!!  I read the book in 2 sittings, it was that good.  Could not put it down!!  Even though 2 different genre books, I would have to say, the memoir was better.  It was a read that touched me to the core and will stay with me for a very long time.  FYI..I read this book at the request of WOW and Ms. Novotny will be a Guest Author here on June 7th.   Mark it on your calendar as there will also be a 2 book giveaway that you WILL want to enter.  I have written my review and will post it then, but will tell you I rated it a 5+.

Today’s musing
Do you belong to any book clubs — face-to-face, or online? If so, how long have you been with the group(s)? If not, why?

My answer:
I have never participated in a book club for a couple of reasons.  To be honest I have never even checked with my local library to see if there were some in my area.  And I’m not surrounded with readers in my personal family/friends circles to even try to start one.  I always had this preconceived notion that the books chosen would be classics and/or books that I would not enjoy.  I do remember that an old friend of the family, many years ago, did belong to one and saw what types of books her group chose and knew that I wouldn’t have been interested in the type of books she used to read.  There are just too many books, that I want to read that are from my genres, that I would feel it would be wasting time on a book that I wouldn’t enjoy.

Today’s question:
Have you ever found a book out of the blue, read it, and then had it be surprisingly good — one that stuck with you for years? If so, what book was it?

My response:
Many years ago, I would say approximately 20 years when my sons were small, I remember picking up a book at our local library during one of their liquidation sales.  I remember the author but not so much the story since it was so long ago.  I had never heard of or read any of the author’s books but  remember thinking that the synopsis on the back cover sounded interesting.   The book was by Emilie Richards and I remember that after I read it, it was an author that went on my list of authors to read.  One of the reasons that it comes to mind is that after reading the book, I went back to the library to borrow some of her other books but there were none on the shelves.  So one day, I put the boys in the car and we hit a few of the used book stores in our area on the hunt for her books and I found one.  It stands out in my mind because I vividly remember that day that the boys and I went on our mission.

What about you?  Has a book that you picked, by chance, stayed with you for years?

This week’s question:
Would you choose to review a book if its description sounded interesting but the cover was terrible? [thanks to The Bookish Brunette for the idea for today’s MM question!]

My response:
Absolutely.    I would say that 99% of the time, I don’t see the cover until I have accepted to read and review a book.    Covers do matter but it’s the plot that I am more interested in.   I have read some great books with not so great covers and wonder who and/or why designed and decided to choose that particular cover.     However, if I were to be in a book store, then covers would play a role in deciding if I pick it up to read the synopsis.

What about you?  Do book covers play a role in your reading?

This week’s question:
What book do you wish you were reading right now?  Where would you take it to, if you could go anywhere to read for a while?

My answer:
This is one musing that I need not give a lot of thought.   Let’s start with the latter question first.

Destination and/or place to read is Aruba.  OK..that’s a reality because the hubby and I are going in a month or so  (it’s our favorite destination and went last year at the same time).  Last year we decided that this will be a yearly trip to have something to look forward to.  A week of doing nothing but enjoying the beach everyday with books and a couple of frozen drinks lol, dining and maybe the casinos at night and total relaxation.

I have already started, well I actually started at least a month ago, making a mental list of packing.   Well not actually packing but what books will be coming along.  There are some authors that I hope they will have books either published  or have an ARC tour and that I can be a part of.  Authors like Michael Baron, Melissa Foster and Vin Zandri.    And if not, since I already know the time and place of the destination, there are plenty of books screaming for me to read in my TBR pile.  And from now until then, I will decide on what books will be coming along on our vacation.
