The Hachette Book Group and Mulholland Books Phenomenal Giveaway

The Hachette Book Group, Mulholland Books and the movie studio are working together for the upcoming release of THE LINCOLN LAWYER by Michael Connelly.

The movie stars Matthew McConaughey as Mickey Haller, Ryan Phillippe, Marisa Tomei, William H. Macy, Josh Lucas, John Leguizamo and more.

The giveaway starts today January 21st and ends February 8th!!
THE LINCOLN LAWYER
by MICHAEL CONNELLY
SYNOPSIS (borrowed from B&N):
New York Times bestselling author Michael Connelly delivers his first legal thriller–an incendiary tale about a cynical defense attorney whose one remaining spark of integrity may cost him his life.

Mickey Haller has spent all his professional life afraid that he wouldn’t recognize innocence if it stood right in front of him. But what he should have been on the watch for was evil.
Haller is a Lincoln Lawyer, a criminal defense pro who operates out of the backseat of his Lincoln Town Car, to defend the clients at the bottom of the legal food chain. It’s no wonder that he is despised by cops, prosecutors, and even some of his own clients.
From bikers to con artists to drunk drivers and drug dealers, they’re all on Mickey Haller’s client list. But when a Beverly Hills rich boy is arrested for brutally beating a woman, Haller has his first high-paying client in years. It’s a franchise case and he’s sure it will be a slam dunk in the courtroom. For once, he may be defending a client who is actually innocent.
But an investigator is murdered for getting too close to the truth and Haller quickly discovers that his search for innocence has taken him face-to-face with a kind of evil as pure as a flame. To escape without being burned, Haller must use all of his skills to manipulate a system in which he no longer believes.

Friday Memes

FRIDAY
I won’t be participating in all my blog hops today due to Bloggiesta and the Winter Respite Read-A-Thon.  I thought that in between working on my blog, I may visit a couple of blogs, take a break and read a bit, then back to working on my blog.  That’s my plan, now I only hope that nothing else interferes  LOL.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

This is the first time I am participating in Bloggiesta, so I do not know what to expect.  Am hoping to learn some short cuts that will cut down on my time spent on the computer.  I am hoping that there will be tasks taught and for us to implement throughout the weekend.
Friday Progress, Updates, Tasks:
1.  Have read tips from Trish at Hey Lady, Watcha Readin how to organize inbox mail and will be implementing her tips.
2.  Kathleen from SMS Book reviews taught us how to make buttons and banners.  Here is mine.  I also copy and pasted her instructions that will go into a folder for future use.  Thank you Kathleen!!!

I am off now to learn about RSS feeds, Google documents, cheat sheets, anchor texts and favicons and graitars, whatever those are.  See you later, if my brain is not over cooked  lol.
I didn’t complete all I wanted to do today but there is always tomrrow.  I did check out the cheat sheets tips and think I have that under control, add RSS and olayed around with a googl document.  Tomorrow I have my eye on a few others I need to do, in between real life issues.  And for the rest of the night, a little relaxation and reading for the Read-A Thon.  Have a great Friday evening all!!

CSN Stores

I just went outside to get the mail and it is cold….brrrrrr….cold!!!  So to help me warm up, I went straight to my calendar to see how many more days until we leave for Aruba!!  But then that got me thinking, we need new luggage.  I am a 99% online shopper and since finding csn/stores.com, I know I will get quality items.  I have been browsing the Delsey luggage department and what an assortment there is.  Different sizes, weights brands, sets,  garment bags, carry on, accessories, etc. etc.  So many to choose from….this is not going to be easy…but will let you know….to be continued…..

This week’s question:
Even I read things other than books from time to time … like, Magazines! What magazines/journals do you read?

My answer:
lol  I have to laugh at this question.  I have mentioned on more than one occasion how the hubster does not read.  He is still on page iii of the Prologue of a book he bought 3 years ago.  But last year, he had some points from something he belongs to, and had to use or lose so he put it towards 2 magazines, which, you guessed it, he just about reads the cover.  So I get to read Time and People weekly.

So that is what this meme is all about, getting to know each other.

Review " To Have and To Kill" by Mary Jane Clark

TO HAVE AND TO KILL by Mary Jane Clark
Published by Harper Collins
ISBN 978-0-06-199554-5
At the request of LibraryThing, an ARC TPB was sent, at no cost to me for my honest opinion.
Synopsis (borrowed from back of book): The delicious first book in the acclaimed New York Times bestselling author’s new Wedding Cake Mystery series.
Piper Donovan never imagined that decorating wedding cakes could be so dangerous! A struggling actress with no immediate prospects and a recently broken engagement, Piper moves back in with her parents to take stock of her life. She steps tentatively into the family bakery business, and finds herself agreeing to create the wedding cake for the acclaimed star of a daytime television drama. But soon someone close to the bride-to-be is horribly murdered and it seems that somebody is ruthlessly determined to stop the wedding.
With the help of her former neighbor, Jack, a handsome FBI agent with a soft spot for the gorgeous cake maker, Piper moves closer to the truth. As she narrows in on a suspect, Piper realizes that it’s hot in in the kitchen that she may be able to handle…….
My Thoughts and Opinion: Before I give my thoughts and opinion, I have to be quite honest with you regarding some issues. This is the first book I have ever read by this author. And if you have followed this blog in the past, you know that I mainly read a more thriller-type mystery than a cozy. And I will now admit…..I have been missing out on some good books. Ms. Clark is definitely now on my radar and I have a lot of catching up to do when it comes to her books. I loved her writing style. Short chapters with tidbits of cliff hangers. Introducing characters with small hints of their personalities throughout the story line that could or would make them the prime suspect. In some cases, the reader knows what the outcome of a certain scene will be but it is still heart pounding waiting for it to happen. I would definitely put this in the category of “a couldn’t put down”, which I didn’t. I am now an official member of the cozy mystery genre thanks to Mary Jane Clark!! Bravo!!
