Tick–a killer’s countdown begins
A rash of horrifying crimes tears through the city, throwing it into complete chaos and terrorizing everyone living there. Immediately, it becomes clear that they are not the work of an amateur, but of a calculating, efficient, and deadly mastermind.
Tick–Michael Bennett is on the chase
The city calls on Detective Michael Bennett, pulling him away from a seaside retreat with his ten adopted children, his grandfather, and their beloved nanny, Mary Catherine. Not only does it tear apart their vacation, it leaves the entire family open to attack.
Tock–your time is up
Bennett enlists the help of a former colleague, FBI Agent Emily Parker. As his affection for Emily grows into something stronger, his relationship with Mary Catherine takes an unexpected turn. Thursday Memes (2 of 2)

THURSDAY

We made it through the blizzard!!!  We did, however, lose power a few times and we got over a foot of snow.  OK….I’m done with the winter…please bring on spring!!!!

Today’s question:
Suggested by Joy:

Do you remember the first book you bought for yourself? Or the first book you checked out of the library? What was it and why did you choose it?
My answer:
Great question Joy!  I wish I could remember but can’t.  The only thing I do remember is in elementary school, getting a Scholastic pamphlet and my parents allowing me to purchase books from that.  I remember getting excited seeing the pamphlets one the teacher’s desk and couldn’t wait to see what books were being offered and then waiting for the books to be delivered.

From Lori’s site:
It struck me recently how much time I spend on this computer every day, blogging, chatting or playing games on Facebook, emailing friends and relatives, making cards and calendars, etc. etc. etc.
We depend on each other for book reviews, giveaways, encouragement, friendship, but how well do we really know each other?
So that is what this meme is all about, getting to know each other.
Lori states:
A little heavier this week.
First let me say I try to keep my political opinions away from this book blog, but the events this past weekend impacted all U.S. Citizens, no matter what party you agree with or even if you don’t vote at all.
If this questions are too heavy for you, please don’t run away. This tragedy has been heavy on my mind all week. If you don’t want to answer the questions below just use the space this week to tell us all something about you we don’t know.

1. Where were you/how did you hear about the tragedy in Tucson?
As I have stated many times before, I have my TV on from the time I get up, tuned to a cable news station from the time I get up.  I was in my office/library blogging and heard about it as soon as it hit the national news.  The TV is behind me, so I did stop blogging to watch and pay attention to what was being said.

2. Do you think it is the politicians and the news media that stir the pot to make these events more likely to happen?
My personal opinion, and this is my opinion only, is that we live in a country with freedom of speech so no, I don’t think anyone or any thing can be said to create this kind of behavior.  However, I do believe that the news does at times, sensationalize this type of story.

3. Do you think we will see any changes in the way our representatives in our home states or in Washington interact with their constituents/us?
Good question, my hubby and I had this same discussion while we were watching the coverage.  We think that either our representatives/senators will have the option of secret service and/or to carry a firearm.

And the winners are……….

Review and Giveaway "Tick Tock" 01/13 to 01/27

TICK TOCK by James Patterson & Michael Ledwidge

Published by Little, Brown and Company
ISBN 978-0-316–03791-4
At the request of The Hachette Book Group, an ARC TPB was sent, at no cost to me, for my honest opinion.

My Thoughts and Opinion: If you are a fan of Mystery/Suspense, then I can sum this book up in 2 words and the majority of readers will know exactly what I mean. And those two words are James Patterson!!! Patterson is true to form, with his short chapters, the kind that I call “just one more chapter” reads and you have read 10. Cliff hanging chapters whereas you just have to continue reading. Suspense that takes your breath away like on a wild roller coaster ride with twists and turns. Two words!!! James Patterson!!!

A couple of announcements before getting to today’s meme.(this was predrafted Tuesday evening for a “just in case” situation and will be published as a “scheduled post” since this corner of the world is expecting a blizzard around midnight with high winds).
One, is that late yesterday afternoon, as New England was preparing for a Nor’easter, I was feeling warm and fuzzy again, due to a very kind blogger.  Teacher/Learner from  Whatcha Readin’, Books?: A Teacher/Learner’… Blog presented me with this award:
Photobucket
Thank you so much for thinking that my blog is stylish, it means a lot to me.  I am, however, going to take the liberty of passing on the rules, since I just did this 2 days ago and don’t want to bore you all again.  But Thank you Teacher/Learner from the bottom of my heart.  And please, take the time and stop by her blog and say hi!!
And, as I mentioned, New England is preparing for another Nor’easter whereas, EMA, State Officials have already had Press Conferences, announcing closings of businesses, roads, bridges, schools, etc etc with anticipation of 1+ feet of snow and high winds, which could mean power outages across the state.  Thank goodness for books and candles, so I’m all set.  But if it’s quiet from this corner of the blogosphere, you will know why.  I will be curled up, with my warm throw, a hot chocolate, and my current read!!
