This week’s question:
Do you ever find scenes from previous books you’ve read popping into your head at random times? If so, does it bother you? If it doesn’t happen to you, why do you think that is?

My answer:
Yes.  But I can’t say it bothers me, it just justifies that the 5/5 rating I gave it was accurate. When a book stays with me long after I finish the last page and something in real life triggers a scene that either I created in my mind or reminds me of a particular book, to me means it was a phenomenal read.  Two come to mind right away.  Whenever I see the commercial for, I think it it is, the Marriot Hotel where a man is spinning plates on sticks, Spinning by Michael Baron instantly comes to mind.  And now whenever I hear anything about Nantucket, I think of Beachcombers by Nancy Thayer.  If an author has that ability, that’s an author that try to read every book he/she writes.

I would like to thank Mari for hosting one of my favorite memes this month.   Thank You Mari!!
If you have followed my blog over this past year, you know that I have become a HUGE fan of Vincent Zandri’s.  I read all of his books and have been patiently waiting for his newest novel to be released.  He surprised me last week by sending me the galley of this book and I can’t wait to start it.  Thank you Vin for the honor of entrusting me with and allowing me to read and review the galley.  I will let everyone know what I think and when it will be available for you to enjoy too.  If it is anything like his other books, I’m in for a treat!!!!

This week’s question:
Do the members of your family read? Do you think it was passed down to you? ((or, if you want you can answer this: Who do you think influenced you as a reader?))

My answer:
Unfortunately, not one family member reads.  However, my Mom takes full responsibility for me always having a book in hand.  As she tells it, she would give me a book when trying to “potty train” me or when I was in my “playpen” in front of the TV (this was in the 50s when these upbringing rituals were not taboo.  As for my sons, I don’t know where I went wrong.  I would read to them EVERY night and many times during the day.  We would take walks to the library, had them signed-up for “library school” classes before they went to Kindergarten and anytime we were at a mall, we HAD to stop in the book store and we all got to pick out a book.  When they were younger, they had a few sets of series (can’t remember the title) that they HAD to read, which they did, until they entered HS and reading for enjoyment stopped.  That is why when I found this community of book blogging I was so excited that I found people that loved books as much as me and that I finally could discuss books that I had read and see what other’s thought on the same book.

This week’s question:
What’s at the top of your must-buy list, right now? (or, if you don’t wait — if you’re more impulsive — what books have you recently purchased?)

My answer:
I have a few on my list that I just added from reviews I have read on other blogger’s site (I am sorry for those who I forgot to write down where I read the reviews).
*Reunion by Jeff Bennington from a review I saw on Julie’s blog Reading Without Restraint
*Ghelloow Road  by T.H. Waters from a review I saw on Elizabeth’s blog Silver’s Reviews
*Slow Dancing on Price’s Pier by Lisa Dale (which is set in RI where I live)
And the latest books from Wendy Corsit Staub, Karen Rose, Lisa Jackson and Lisa Gardner….thats just to name a few.

This week’s question:
If you’re a mood reader, what (genre) do your moods usually call you to read?

My answer:
From my HS days, I was always drawn to romance/suspense books, which I can say I read for quite a while.  Then my reading took a turn to strictly mystery/suspense and if there was a bit of romance, that was a bonus.  And today, I have branched out even more, whereas my first draws are still mystery/suspense, but am also enjoying romantic suspense, chick lit, contemporary romance, and even a few true life stories in the way of bios and/or memoirs.  I do know, however, that I am still not ready for PNR and/or UF.

Ironically, I recently modified my “review policy” because I was reading books as I received them.  After a year of this schedule, I found that I was not enjoying the “reading for pleasure” process.  I felt that I was reading like a robot.  Now, I still have a separate “requested review” shelf in my bookcase, and choose the next book to read depending on my mood and have found that I am reading more each month and back to why I read….for pleasure, enjoyment and entertainment.
