This week’s qestion:
In a related question to last week’s–

I was reading the other day a quote from JFK Jr who said on the death of his mother, that she died surrounded by family, friends, and her books. Apparently, Jackie’s books were very much a part of HER, her personality, her sense of self.
Up until recently, people could browse your bookshelves and learn a lot about you–what your interests are, your range of topics, favorite authors, how much you read (or at least buy books).
More and more, though, this is changing. People aren’t buying books so much as borrowing them from the library. Or reading them on their e-readers or computers. There’s nothing PHYSICAL on the shelves to tell strangers in your home, for better or worse, who you ARE.
Do you think this is a good thing? Bad? Discuss!
My answer:

I remember John Jr. saying that and thinking that may be some day.  Because if I were to have an illness that was lingering, I am sure, I would want to read to the very end.  And those that would be with me at that time already know that reading is a very important facet of my life so it wouldn’t matter if they saw what the titles were, they would know that what has always made me happy and what I have always enjoyed, I continued to the end.

From Lori’s site:
It struck me recently how much time I spend on this computer every day, blogging, chatting or playing games on Facebook, emailing friends and relatives, making cards and calendars, etc. etc. etc.
We depend on each other for book reviews, giveaways, encouragement, friendship, but how well do we really know each other?

So that is what this meme is all about, getting to know each other

This week’s question:
So … the books that you own (however many there may be) … do you display them proudly right there in plain sight for all the world to see? (At least the world that comes into your living room.)
Or do you keep them tucked away in your office or bedroom or library or closet or someplace less “public?”
My answer:
Until just recently they were overflowing in out bookcase in our family room.  But when we became empty nesters, we redid one of the boy’s bedrooms into a “reading room / library /office  for me.  We still have books in the family room’s bookcase but they are mainly text books from when hubby and I were in college, cookbooks, and some overflow books of mine.  I do, however, proudly show off MY room, because it was something I always wanted.  Someday when the hubby gets the camera fixed, which better be soon for our trip, I will post pictures of where I read and blog.

WEEK 32 QUESTIONS

1. Do you eat breakfast every morning?
I usually have cereal and a banana but for the past couple of months I have been eating less in preparation for our vacation.
2. What is your favorite breakfast cereal?
3. What is your favorite brand and flavor of yogurt?
I have a few that I eat throughout the day.  The Yoplait Chocolate Mousse is my dessert at night.

This week’s question:
What’s the oddest thing you’ve ever read? (You know, something NOT a book, magazine, short story, poem or article.)

My answer:
This was a hard question.  I don’t think this would fall under “odd” but it most definitely falls under “difficult” and over the past 2 months have had to read quite a few “legal documents”.

WEEK 31 QUESTIONS

1. Are you a bath or shower person?
SMILEY SHOWERING

2. Do you bathe/shower in the morning or at night?
Both but mainly at night.

3. Do you have a hot tub or swimming pool?
Swimming in pool smiley

When the boys were young, in the summer we had a houseful with both of their friends being here everyday since we were the one’s with the inground pool.  My hubby couldn’t understand why our grocery bill was so high in the summer…DUH!!! And now that hubby and I have the pool to ourselves, that is where you will find me, I usually am reading either by or in the pool in my reading floating chair.

I am happy with what I accomplished reading since there were major “real life” issues that needed priority attention.  What I did read was:
5/5  These Things Hidden by Heather Gudenkauf
4/5  Twenty-Five Years Ago Today by Stacy Juba
3-4/5  Bitch, Please! by Meagan Munroe
1/5  Sixty-Nine by Pynk  DNF
4/5  Night Road by Kristin Hannah
3/4  The Weight of Glass by Stuart Heatherington
4/5  Miss Hildreth Wore Brown by Olivia deBelle Byrd

This week’s question:
Series? Or Stand-alone books?
My Answer:
Mainly Stand-alone.  Series books would depend on the author and subject matter.  An example is The Women’s Murder Club by James Patterson.  I started reading this series many, many years ago and quite frankly, don’t remember much about them.  And over this past year, have won 3-4 of the latest ones.  I have been debating if I should purchase the first 4-5 of the series and reread, however, I came across a blogger’s review of one in the series and it wasn’t a favorable reveiew.  So should I spend the money or try reading the ones I have as Stand-alones?  Not sure.  Authors that can write books that are intended as a series, but can pull in the previous novel(s) and be read as a Stand-Alone, in my opinion, is pure talent.

WEEK 30 QUESTIONS

1. Have you ever traveled outside of the United States?
Yes, I have been very fortunate to have had the chance to have traveled.  When I was a child, we went on a family vacation to Canada.  While in High School, I travelled to Spain, Africa and Italy.  As an adult, I have visited Aruba and Nassau.
2. If you could pack up today on a vacation and money was no issue where would you go?
If you follow this blog, you know my favorite destination would be Aruba but I would also love to go back to Italy as a family vacation.
3. Is there somewhere in the United States that you have never been that you would like to visit?
Hawaii, I heard it is absolutely beautiful.  And then I would say I would like to visit whatever states the blogging friends, I have met over this past year, so I could spend time with them in real life instead of our virtual Sunday gab sessions.
