Did everyone watch the Opening Day of the 2010 Olympics? Did you enjoy? Because I am a morning person, I tried very hard to watch but sleep took over. So, unfortunately, I missed most of it.
Sorry this is being posted later than usual but having some computer problems again. Hubby is trying to figure it out so this will be a quick post. Am hoping to be back on later today and have it running smoothly. Have another review to write and enter.
So until then……
Have a great Saturday…..RELAX and READ !!

From An Island Life: In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
If you’d like to participate, visit An Island Life answer the question and then post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends.
My question is:
What are your thoughts about Valentine’s Day in general?
I personally think that it is a day created for commercialism. If someone is in a relationship, every day should be Valentine’s Day. Hubby and I usually out to eat for a “romantic” dinner on Valentine’s Day. But have to say, when he sends me flowers for no reason…those are the ones I like most….. because it speaks volumes.

2. Right now, I enjoy being at home.
3. The snow is amount predicted was wrong..again!!!
4. Artwork with the background in nature are beautiful.
5. It’s 5:16 PM; that means I am waiting for the famly to get home.
6. Am honest person is hard to find.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to some quiet time, tomorrow my plans include laundry, some chores, some blog drafts, then relaxing and reading and Sunday, I want to do nothing but relax and read!

Today’s question:
How can you encourage a non-reading child to read? What about a teen-ager? Would you require books to be read in the hopes that they would enjoy them once they got into them, or offer incentives, or just suggest interesting books? If you do offer incentives and suggestions and that doesn’t work, would you then require a certain amount of reading? At what point do you just accept that your child is a non-reader?
I can only speak from experience. I read to my boys from when they were very young. It was for a dual purpose. One for them to hear the English language and two that they would hopefully come to love books. When they were in their playpen they would grab their little books and babble (weren’t talking at this point) as they turned the pages. As they got older I enrolled them into our library childrens’ activities and then we would check out books that they chose. They always saw me with a book. During elementary and middle school, we would buy them series of books that they requested. Books were never denied. However, even with their young love of books, once they hit high school and college, they never read for pleasure again. There is definitely a difference in reading text books and books that are “enjoyed”. I still hope that someday they will pick up reading again. I do believe, however, that some people just don’t find reading fun. I can’t remember ever seeing my parents read and I turned out to be an avid reader. I don’t feel that one should “force” reading on a child, or even an adult for that matter, but try to encourage.
I found 3 more great book blogs this week via the blog list from Vicki at Reading At The Beach (http://www.readingatthebeach.com/) I will be notifying these new blogs and presenting them with the “Thursday Treasure” Just like books, and now am finding with blogs, there are never too many!!
