Teaser Tuesday

Hosted by Miz B at Should Be Reading
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
*Grab your current read
*Open to a random page
*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
*BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
*Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

At the end of the day, many of the steps forward you take, you take by yourself. Sometimes you get a little help along the way. That’s why God invented your mother, sisters, daughters and girlfriends. (Sometimes I think God should have quit while he was ahead).

Today’s Question:
Are you currently collecting any authors? Why?
Do you have all of their books? If not, why not?
Did you buy all the books in the collection at the same time, or did you buy a book here, a book there? Have you actually read all of the collection? If not, why not?
My answer:
I never thought of it as collecting one author’s books, but I do have all of the books written by a couple of authors.  One author, and you probably won’t be surprised by this, is Vincent Zandri.  I have his books both in print and EBook editions and have read each one.  The book that hooked me, Moonlight Falls, is one that I have in print and is signed. I have them and have read them all is for the fact, pure and simple, that I enjoy his writing and his masterful way of story telling.

Another author is Melissa Foster.  I have all of her books as she has been a guest on this blog as a Guest Author and has been kind to gift me a copy of each one.  I have yet to read one due to  my very low reading numbers this year, but am hoping to read one soon.

This topic is one of the negatives of owning an EReader, in my opinion.   A collection should be displayed so that all can see but, that is impossible with a digital device.

What about you?  Do you have collections by a particular author?

I read your review of The Remains. I found the story interesting. Rebecca’s secret she has kept hidden for thirty years. The chapters alternate between her present and then her past and then back to the present.

2012 Challenge Bookie Friends Favorites Challenge

Yes…I added another challenge this week.  And I am sure there are more to come.  I’m probably like you, addicted to books, addicted to challenges, and addicted to the buttons.  I try to rationalize each and every challenge I sign up for, because like my 5 shelf TBR book case, I don’t want it to get too out of control.
So my thinking is that since I have a large book case filled with just TBR books, not counting what is being stored in Kimmy Kindle and Sophie Sony, it is because of all of my blogging buddies that I have met along the way.  I have added so many books from recommendations, reviews I have read and/or through memes that I participate in like Mailbox Monday that this challenge, that this was a good challenge to sign up for.  This makes #8 and there are still some that I am waiting and hoping for.  What about you?  How are you doing with your 2012 Challenges?  Added any more?  Are you, like me, waiting for certain ones?  Did you sign up for this one?  Would love to hear!!

Review "Lethal" by Sandra Brown

LETHAL by Sandra Brown

Published by Grand Central Publishing
Hachette Book Group
ISBN-13: 9781455501472
At the request of Grand Central Publishing, a HC was sent, at no cost to me, for my honest opinion.

Synopsis (from publisher):  When her four year old daughter informs her a sick man is in their yard, Honor Gillette rushes out to help him. But that “sick” man turns out to be Lee Coburn, the man accused of murdering seven people the night before. Dangerous, desperate, and armed, he promises Honor that she and her daughter won’t be hurt as long as she does everything he asks. She has no choice but to accept him at his word.

But Honor soon discovers that even those close to her can’t be trusted. Coburn claims that her beloved late husband possessed something extremely valuable that places Honor and her daughter in grave danger. Coburn is there to retrieve it — at any cost. From FBI offices in Washington, D.C., to a rundown shrimp boat in coastal Louisiana, Coburn and Honor run for their lives from the very people sworn to protect them, and unravel a web of corruption and depravity that threatens not only them, but the fabric of our society.
My Thoughts and Opinion:  I have been a fan of Ms. Brown’s for many years, I would even guess since from when I was in college, so we are talking many, years. However, and I don’t know why, but it has been quite a while since I have read one of her novels.  So when I saw that this book was up for review, I requested to be one of the lucky reviewers.  I doubt there are many avid readers who haven’t heard of this best selling author and/or read one of her many books.
I am so glad that I did because I realized just why it was that I became a fan so many years ago. I have to start with a caveat.  Ever since I started book blogging, reviewing, meeting (through emails) and speaking to authors, publishers, and publicists, I have such a different outlook when I now read a novel.  Yes, it still is for pleasure, enjoyment and entertainment but I now also think about what and how the author creates the characters, premise, the written words so that the reader can create their own imagery and be transported straight into the story and not even realize what is going on around them or even how much time has passed.  How the author can create a cast of characters and weaves them together where they become so life like that you feel as if you know them is pure talent and Lethal had all that and more.
Lethal was a phenomenal read!!  A pure adrenaline rush from start to finish.  A novel that was a non stop page turning, couldn’t put down, white knuckle read.  This reader will not be letting so much time pass in between Sandra Brown books again because I definitely was the one missing out on some great reading.
