Lt. Samantha (Sam) Collins, a firefighter, vanishes after a warehouse fire the week before she was to testify at her estranged husband’s trial for drug charges. The only clue to her disappearance is a firefighter helmet that was left behind at the scene.
Rachel Scott founded Florida Omni Search after her own daughter disappeared when she was four. She has worked with law enforcement agencies all over the United States in locating missing people. Sam’s mother calls Rachel for assistance in locating her daughter. However, the search for Sam takes her on a journey that she never expected.
As she digs deeper into Sam’s past, she finds out more about the marijuana operation her husband Ken, a former police officer, was involved with. In her desperate, terrifying search for Sam, Rachel also discovers clues about her own missing daughter, Mallory.
Will she locate Samantha in time and also find out what happened to her own daughter?

Back in 1991 a little boy went missing from a carnival that was held in the town next to ours. I was in High School back then and remember the searches for him and reading about the investigation into his disappearance. I read a recent article on his case. As a mom I cannot even imagine what this family must be going through. It breaks my heart to learn he has not been found and his case is still open.

There is a case always in the headlines here about a 12 year old boy called Daniel. I have followed this case. Probably because it features so often in the news.

There are a couple of unsolved missing persons in my area that I am curious about.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I've always been fascinated with missing persons cases since the Natalie Holloway case. My next book in the series, Asylum Harbor, was inspired by that case. It will feature the daughter of a Florida governor who vanishes during a cruise to the Bahamas. Good luck in the contest!

No, Fortunately, I know no one with a missing person case. I do listen and look at missing person cases pertaining to the media. But personally have not followed cases. I am happy for a good conclusion.

I have no personal knowledge of anyone in a missing person case, but have certainly followed several in news reports. There is one locally, where 2 teenage girls disappeared after the parents of one of them were murdered. Evidence apparently suggests that they were abducted (they were having a sleepover), and there are multiple locations in the area where bodies can be hidden. Most feel that they are probably dead, but the families, of course, want to know for sure.

From television. I have followed the case of a young bride's disappeareance in Atlanta in 1964. The detectibe who worked on the case ubsuccessfully all his career has died. The local news have run several stories about the case over the years but it still remaind unsolved. garrettsambo@aol.com
i have watched a few over the years, one that stands out is a local woman who disappeared about 5 years ago, she's never been found
