Giveaway "The Tower, The Zoo and The Tortoise" 09/22 to 09/29

THE TOWER, THE ZOO and THE TORTOISE
Photobucket
by Julia Stuart
September 22nd to September 29th
Synopsis (borrowed from Barnes & Noble)
Brimming with charm and whimsy, this exquisite novel set in the Tower of London has the transportive qualities and delightful magic of the contemporary classics Chocolat and Amélie.
Balthazar Jones has lived in the Tower of London with his loving wife, Hebe, and his 120-year-old pet tortoise for the past eight years. That’s right, he is a Beefeater (they really do live there). It’s no easy job living and working in the tourist attraction in present-day London.
Among the eccentric characters who call the Tower’s maze of ancient buildings and spiral staircases home are the Tower’s Rack & Ruin barmaid, Ruby Dore, who just found out she’s pregnant; portly Valerie Jennings, who is falling for ticket inspector Arthur Catnip; the lifelong bachelor Reverend Septimus Drew, who secretly pens a series of principled erotica; and the philandering Ravenmaster, aiming to avenge the death of one of his insufferable ravens.
When Balthazar is tasked with setting up an elaborate menagerie within the Tower walls to house the many exotic animals gifted to the Queen, life at the Tower gets all the more interesting. Penguins escape, giraffes are stolen, and the Komodo dragon sends innocent people running for their lives. Balthazar is in charge and things are not exactly running smoothly. Then Hebe decides to leave him and his beloved tortoise “runs” away.
Filled with the humor and heart that calls to mind the delightful novels of Alexander McCall Smith, and the charm and beauty of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, The Tower, the Zoo, and the Tortoise is a magical, wholly original novel whose irresistible characters will stay with you long after you turn the stunning last page.

Product Review and Giveaway 09/15 to 09/26 (posting 1 of 3)

Photobucket
I was approached by Pete at Executive Gift Shoppe to do a review of one of his products, which are many.  It took me a very long time just to decide which item to choose.  Just some of the items they offer are personalized business card holders, personalized flasks for those fall hayrides, clocks, desk organizers, golf gifts and so much more!!!   Before I show you what I chose, I thought these items were kind of unique.  On the left, one of the business card holders that I liked and on the left, those aren’t cell phones, but are flasks.
After much time trying to decide what I wanted from all the items offered, I chose this cherry wood desk organizer to match my new bookcases for my office/library:

It was delivered in just a few days.  Double boxed for a safe delivery.  I have to tell you when I opened the box, I was surprised!!!  It was much heavier, sturdier and made with quality wood, than I thought it would be.  The picture above does not do the product justice.  This desk organizer is definitely an executive gift at an affordable price.  As are a lot of their gifts to choose from.  I am very happy with the choice I made and now you can also make a choice.

Pete from Executive Gift Shop has generously offered to have one of my followers the chance to choose any item up to $50.00.  All items can be personalized.  International giveaway!!!   Visit their site, then follow the directions on the entry giveaway page.  Good Luck!!!

CSN Review (3 of 3)

Photobucket

Its official, hubby and I are empty nesters as of Sunday.  It was a bittersweet moment.  But also a very proud moment that my son is starting a new chapter in his life.  And so are we.  And starting by making one of the boys’ bedroom into an office/library for me!!!  Since I spend a lot of time at the computer, I needed a good desk chair.  And I have one now.  We ordered a ergonomic leather chair with lumbar support, perfect for me from all the back surgeries.  This is the one we purchased:

It was delivered within a few days of ordering it.  Hubby and I emptied the box and began to put it together.  We had a few problems with the installation as the directions could have been more explicit and detailed.  But once we got it assembled and tested out. we loved it.  A very comfortable and sturdy chair, so much so that we plan to order another one for hubby’s computer work station.

This chair was purchased by me along with a CSN GC
