Monday Memes

Hosted by Miz B at Should Be Reading

This week’s muse:
Miz B has recently changed the format for this meme.  Instead of a weekly question we can now just post our thoughts on anything pertaining to books and/or reading.

My thoughts this week:  Surprise deliveries.
Be honest!!  Do you wait and hope that you will receive a goodie via mail and/or UPS?  I will fess up and say that I look forward to these deliveries.  I’m so bad that when I hear the mail carrier close my mailbox, I am checking it immediately to see if  there are any books.  The heck with the bills, I want books.

And 2 weeks ago, I received such a treat.  A book that I hadn’t expected but was so thrilled about receiving, that as soon as I got back to my desk, I was sending out emails to say thank you.  You ask what had me grinning ear to ear?  It was an ARC that Liz, from Media Muscle/The Book Trib sent, from an author that is on my “authors to read list”, Barbara Taylor Sissel, who is on my “favorite authors to read” list.  I have been a fan for a few years now and knew that a new book was coming out but not sure when.  I started it yesterday and was hooked.  Matter of fact, since today is a holiday, I think I am taking the afternoon off, so I can read it.  Barbara will be here in April as a guest author for Evidence of Life, and when you can read my review.  Until then, I recommend you read one of her previous novels.  You won’t be disappointed.  I’m off to my reading chair…..have a great day!!

Monday Memes

Today’s question:
Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…

• Describe one of your reading habits.
• Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
• Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying it.

My thoughts:

Today, I will discuss reading habits.

As you see above, today starts another Read-A-Thon.  I signed up for another one earlier this month, and didn’t even start.  Today, I am hoping this will jump start my reading slump.  For the past few months, the majority of my time has been in front of the computer keeping up with the many VT bookings at PICT and PBP.  And by the time, I try to relax and read, my eyes are so tired that I doze off, which could also be age lol.  But today, I am hopeful, because the settings will be right.

I love to read, and always have, during any type of storms.  And today in New England, a snow storm is predicted.  I have mentioned that I have my reading room/office set up whereas my reading chair sits in a corner facing a window on the opposite side of the room where I can look up and see the elements.  During a snow storm, I will be covered in a fleece throw with a hot cup of coffee and my book.  So am hoping that because the setting will be conducive to reading and the incentive of the Read-A-Thon, that my slump will end.

When in a reading slump, what do you do to end it?

Monday Memes

Hosted by Miz B at Should Be Reading

From Miz B:
Here it is… the new version of Musing Mondays! Each week, you’ll see the same set of questions… and you’ll pick which one you want to answer that week. I know this is slightly less exciting than what Musing Mondays has been to this point, but I am burning out on doing daily memes, and need to simplify things a bit. So, I am making MM a little more self-sustaining (where I don’t have to really think about it too much), and will keep my other weekly memes the same, for now. I hope you’ll still play along!

This week’s muse:

My thoughts:
Today I will describe just one of my reading habits.  I have different reading habits depending on the season.  I am not a fan of winter.  I dislike every aspect, but one,  and tend to slightly hibernate during this time.   Since I was a child, and still to this day, love to read when it is snowing.  I will get comfy, curled up in my reading recliner with a fleece throw, and a  cup of hot coffee or hot choloate.  Since the recliner faces the windows, I will look up every now and then to watch the snow.  For me, it is such a tranquil and warm feeling.

What about you?  Do you have different reading habits depending on the seasons?  What is your’s for the winter?
