Today’s question:
This week’s musing (courtesy of the BookCrazy Yahoo! group) asks…

Below is a link to an NPR discussion about the simple fact that there’s no way you can read, see and experience all the things that are available to be experienced. The two methods for dealing with it are culling (i.e., cutting out certain genres that don’t interest you, etc.) or surrender (i.e., just making peace with the facts and enjoying what you can in the time that you have).
http://www.npr.org/2011/06/27/137451477/you-cant-possibly-read-it-all-so-stop-trying
So, do you cull, or do you surrender? Or do you do both?
My answer:
I would say I do both.  I definitely cull and proud of it lol.  While I blog hop, visiting my blogging buddies, to see what they are reading, I will read their reviews, even though I know it is a genre I will never read. However, I feel it allows me to know the blogger a little bit better by what they are reading, what they like and how they write their review.  I definitely surrender to the genre that brings me enjoyment and it is evident.  I do not have a tbr pile, I have an oversized 5 shelf tbr bookcase that is stuffed with books waiting to be read.  And I blame it all on blogging  lol.  Since I found this great community, my list has tripled.  What saddens me, at times, is when I look at the books on those shelves and wonder if I will even make a dent, especially at my age.  That is why I have renamed my list to “my tbr bucket list”.  And since today is also Mailbox Monday, I am off to add more books to the list lol.

WooHoo !!!  Have you heard ????  Someone is back in business!!!  I am soooo excited,  if I could jump up and down, that’s exactly what I would be doing!!!!  I am thrilled beyond words can express.  Oh how I remember that day, the day that I got up the courage to email this blogger and ask a  couple ofa few, many questions, and she was so gracious and kind and answered every single one of them.  Then she encouraged me and mentored me to go public and was my very first follower.  Well, she’s baaaack!!!!  YES!!!!  VICKI, from her former blog Reading At The Beach, is back!!!!  So run right over to her new place, I’D RATHER BE READING AT THE BEACH and give her a great big {{{{{{ hug }}}}}}…. .  I am sure, like me, that there are a lot of bloggers who have missed her as much as I have.  WELCOME BACK VICKI!!!!!

This week’s question:

Have you ever read a book that inspired you to take up a cause? What book was it, and what is/was the cause?

My answer:
What a great question.  The only book that came to mind was The Left Behind Series.  I have always had a deep belief of my religion.  I’m not the type to discuss it unless asked, preach about it, ring door bells, etc etc., but when I read this series , a fictional interpretation of The Revelations from The Bible and written by 2 pastors, I have recommended it to so many people.  The reason being that these books were written in the late 1990s and I read them approximately 5 years ago, all 13 of them. and in a very short time.  I want to share these books with others, for them to make decisions in their own lives.

This week’s question:
Do you like movies made from books? Which ones do you think have been done well — kept mostly to the plot of the book, etc?

My answer:

I am not a TV/movie person but I have in the past seen a couple of movies after I have read the books, and quite honestly, have been quite disappointed.  The visual creations that I created, I feel were much better.  The adaptations just weren’t as good as the book.  So, instead of sitting and watching a movie, I would much rather spend the time reading.

This week’s question:
What’s the last thing you stayed up half the night reading because it was so good you couldn’t put it down?

My answer:
First I have to admit that those days are gone when I was a night owl and could read late into the wee hours of the morning.  So instead, I checked my spread sheet and checked to see what my last 5/5 rated book was, which if I could stay awake at those hours I would be reading it at it was Concrete Pearl by Vincent Zandri.  A suspense noir author that hooked me in May of 2010 with his book Moonlight Falls.

MONDAY
Hi Everyone!!  Just wanted to touch base and let you all know what has been going on around here.  I hope I’m not jinxing myself, but things seem to have quieted down.  My Mom finally got discharged from the hospital and is doing OK.  She does have a little weakness from the mini strokes she had but is glad to be back at the facility, with my sister, where they both reside.  I want to thank all those who kept her in your prayers.  Because I was going in different directions, I got behind in blogging, visiting, commenting and when I would finally sit down to read, I would fall asleep.  I have finally caught up and will hopefully be back to normal, but then me being normal could be questionable lol.  And it’s a good thing because this week is going to be a busy one.  We have a Guest Author stopping by every day to talk about their latest book, with giveaways, so if you get a minute or two, try to drop by.  Have a great week!!  And again, thank you for the prayers.

This week’s question:

Where is your favorite place to read?

My answer:
I have 2 favorite places to read, depending on the time of year.  When it is cold or chilly outside, you can find me reading in my recliner in my combined office/library/blogging room.  And now that warm weather is approaching, I will be outside reading either by the pool or on really hot day, sitting on my reading float in the pool.
Do you have a favorite reading spot?  One to call your own?
