A Bit Of Me

SATURDAY
Photobucket
Hosted by Danielle at There’s A Book

From Danielle’s blog:
We all leave our “footprint” on the world, in one way or another. We each, individually, do something or are someone that makes the world a little better just by being here. I created this weekly meme to get to know the blogging community I love just a bit better. To know what makes them tick, outside of books, that is. Each week I will post a question to be answered in the following week’s “A Bit of Me(Me)”. Check back each Saturday to get the info for next week’s post and link up with your current post right here.
This week’s question: What’s your earliest memory?

I don’t know how Danielle does it.  She comes up with great questions week after week.  However, today’s question has taxed my brain and I will probably need a nap after this since it was soooooo long ago lol.
I think my earliest and most vivid memories were of our family day trips.  Not your usual day trips, at least, I don’t think so.  My dad, before I was born, was a race car driver, so he loved to be behind the wheel of a car.  Now you have to remember, this is back 50 years, when highways weren’t what they are today.  Also that we live in RI.  He would announce on a Saturday night, that the next day we were going to visit relatives in NY.  No big deal, right?  Except, there would be 7 of us in the car, 6 adults and me.  Not too comfortable.  I usually ended up, somehow, sitting on the backseat floor.  Back and forth in a day.  Probably 10 hours on the road, 5 hours visiting.  I can remember to this day how uncomfortable I was in the car.  And then, he decided we were going on a “family vacation” and he was driving us to Canada!!!!!  NY trips became a breeze lol.
I have mentioned before that I lost my Dad when I was 16, but he left me with so many memories in the short time that I had him.

From An Island Life:

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
If you’d like to participate, visit An Island Life answer the question and then post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

MY QUESTION:
Are you following the Casey Anthony Murder Trial
and if so, have you decided on guilt or innocent ?
MY ANSWER:
Yes.  I have been following this from when Caylee
went missing and think that the mother is guilty.

This week’s question:

This week’s question:
“Share your favorite post from the last month and tell us why it’s close to your heart!”

My answer:
Most definitely it is an event I host every Sunday called Sunday’s Shining Star.  Each week I showcase a book blogger, which they have answered a previous questionnaire that I sent them.  When I first started blogging, my mentor told me that “the best bloggers were book bloggers” and right she was.  And it has taken on a life of it’s own.  It is now like a weekly “get together” where we have virtual coffee and pastry and just gab.  Lori from Dollycas’s Thoughts was my first guest and her husband made the mistake (in a fun way) of calling our weekly visit our “hen party”.  Well…from there it went to a “hot chick get together and Jeff (her hubby) has been part of our virtual visits whereas he delivers the pastry, even though he eats some on the way, or when we travel, he carries the luggage.  And then Lori decided to add my hubby, Steve, into the party.  It is such a fun event that I look forward to.  If you haven’t stopped by, please do.  Or if you would like to be showcased or would like to see a blogger showcased, please contact me. HERE.

THURSDAY

Today’s question:
Do you read book reviews? Whose do you trust? Do they affect your reading habits? Your buying habits?

My answer:
Unfortunately, yes lol.  That is why my personal tbr bucket list is so big that I doubt, at my age, I will ever be able to read all the books listed.  Whose do I trust?  Again, the answer is many.  Since I started blogging, I have gotten to know those bloggers who have similar likes as me, and it’s their reviews that I know if a book should go on my list.  However, I am leery of some bloggers whose reviews are all positive.

Photobucket
Hosted by Lori from Dollycas’s Thoughts

From Lori’s site:
It struck me recently how much time I spend on this computer every day, blogging, chatting or playing games on Facebook, emailing friends and relatives, making cards and calendars, etc. etc. etc.
We depend on each other for book reviews, giveaways, encouragement, friendship, but how well do we really know each other?
So that is what this meme is all about, getting to know each other.

WEEK 40 QUESTIONS
Lori has announced that today is the finale of Enquiring Minds.  I, personally, will miss this meme.  I looked forward to see what questions she would come up with each week.  I think she did a fantastic job but I can also understand how much work it is to host a weekly meme.  No matter what,  I know that since I have gotten to know Lori a lot better because of the memes we host, our friendship will continue.  Thank you Lori for a job well done!!!

1. List 3 things the make you happy?
Family, friends and books

2. If you could change 3 things in the world today what would they be?
World peace, end homelessness, find a cure for Cancer
3. If you had a BILLION dollars list the first 3 things you would do with the money.
Take an extended family vacation with both sons and their gfs, give both sons a large portion for their future, and buy a condo in Aruba.
