SUNDAY’S SHINING STAR

WELCOME!!!

I would like to explain how this came to fruition. Hubby and I were having a discussion about the old days, (for the young’ens reading this..a little history lesson) but before the dark age. When Sundays were special and had traditions and rituals. Sunday mornings Church, come home to a big gravy (sauce) cooking on the stove, a big Sunday dinner, then either off to visit relatives/friends or wait for relatives/friends to drop by. We would spend the afternoon sitting around the table, talking, catching up, having coffee, pizza, calzones, etc etc, dessert. And now, how sad, all those traditions are gone. And then I got to thinking, why not have something similar here on my blog. This past year, I have met so many amazing and wonderful people (some I now call friends) through blogging, and how I am in awe of what they do and accomplish. How much respect I have for them, for their honesty, integrity, credibility and so enjoy when a bit of their personality shines through. So every Sunday, here at my place, the coffee will be on, the dessert is on the table and friends will be stopping by. And I will be rolling out the red carpet for my Sunday Shining Star Blogger guest.

Like I mentioned last week, I don’t read the answers from the questionnaires until I draft up the post, and to be honest I can’t wait to read and get to know more about today’s guest.  I met today’s Star a few months ago and she amazes me.  She has a family, works full time and can read 3-5 books in a week!!!  Either she doesn’t sleep or I want the name of the Vitamin she takes every morning lol. So let’s welcome today’s Sunday’s Shining Star, BEV from MY READER’S BLOCK

*When and why did you start blogging?

I started blogging in April 2010. A friend of mine mentioned that he had a blog and also that I should check out his daughter’s blog. I did and then started snooping around the blogosphere and found a whole bunch of book blogs. I decided it would be a great way for me to keep track of my reading–log the books and actually review them so maybe my aging brain might better remember what I read. The main point was a personal reading journal.

*How and what made you decide on the name of your blog?
Well, I’m a reader and a wanna-be writer (first draft of a mystery novel done…but needs lots of work), so I was looking to do a play on “writer’s block” while also indicating that I was reviewing the books (putting them on the chopping block, so to speak). I planned to call it just “Reader’s Block” but some guy had already claimed it. What’s really irksome is that he claimed it, posted like 2 or 3 times several years ago and then abandoned it. So, I stuck a “My” on it. Ta-da!

*What would you say is the main content of your blog?
Reviews. And challenge-related posts. Can’t forget the challenges. Afterall, I am a Challenge Addict and proud of it!

*If books, what genres do you mostly read?
My first love is mysteries–particularly vintage mysteries. I’ve loved them since my mom gave me her 1950s set of Nancy Drew books (5-6books). I had a long affair with science fiction from about 12 years old through college and a brief flirtation with romance novels, but in the end I come back to mysteries. After mysteries, my second long-lasting love is classics 18th Century through WWII and mainly British. Not a big American Lit girl and a more modern novel really has to grab my attention for me to read it.

*How often do you post?
At least once a day and often as many as three times a day.

*What are some of the things that you love about blogging?
1. Keeping track of what I read in more definite way. I actually knew how many books I read in 2010. I never had a number before. This also makes my husband happy because he’s a numbers man and loves it when I can give him number data of any sort.

2. Meeting so many lovely people out here in the blogospher. It’s nice to know I’m not the only crazy book lady who’s addicted to challenges. LOL. But, seriously, I have made so many great virtual friends. It’s better than any pen pal system I’ve ever known.

*What are some of the negatives?
Hmmm. Probably that it takes time away from reading (or possibly other things I ought to be doing. Surely I don’t need to dust right now.)

*Name 1-3 favorite items/postings that you have/do on your blog?
1. Reviews. I love getting my thoughts about the books down where I can go back and read them.
2. Challenges. (bet you couldn’t guess that) Some of them have gotten me to read books that I never would have otherwise.

*Any advice you would give to new bloggers?
1. Be yourself. Do it your way. Don’t worry about whether your blog is as pretty as someone else’s or if you do as many posts as others.
2. Don’t worry about the numbers. Yeah, it’s nice to watch the number of followers go up, but if you do something that’s unique and makes you happy, the followers will come.
3. Join in on memes. It’s the best way I’ve found to get to know your fellow bloggers. And there’s some really cool people out there!

*What draws you to follow someone’s blog?
Interesting posts. Particularly about books. Doesn’t even have to be a genre I love, but if the posts are interesting and make me think, then I’ll keep coming back. A sense of humor is also a big draw. I love bloggers who can make me laugh.

*Do you have any “pet peeves” that other bloggers do?
Leaving comments that only say “I was here.” or “I’m following you. Please follow me back.” I’m shy, I want to get to know you before I make a commitment like that. 🙂 And it would be nice to know why you decided to follow me. Was it my cute little button designed by my son? Was it the great review I did on Book X? A little feed back would be good.

*Would you plase share 5-7 things about the person behind the screen so that we get to know the “real” you!!
1. As mentioned above, I’m a writer wanna-be. First draft of an acadmic mystery done. It needs a lot of polishing. A whole lot.

2. My life-long dream is to make a trip to England. I’m saving my pennies…maybe I’ll make in the next couple of years. There’s a web site I’ve got marked that offers mystery lovers tours. Now that would be ideal!

3. I’ve mentioned this before (for award requirements): I’ve sung with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir twice. In 2008 and 2009, I attended their annual choir convention. Particpants attend classes, practice sessions, and then sing (on the platform) with the Choir during one of the Sunday services. One of the coolest experiences ever!

4. I am the proud mom of an Eagle Scout (I bet you knew I couldn’t resist saying that again). I’ve been a Scout Leader ever since he was a Wolf in Cub Scouts.

5. Last summer I went with the scouts for Kyle’s final scouting trip to the Boundary Waters (between Minnesota & Canada). We canoed and camped out in the back of beyond for 5 days and four nights. Toting our canoes and gear in between lakes. It was a wonderful experience. I’m glad I did it. I’ll never do it again. LOL.

6. For the last five years I’ve played softball with my husband on our English Department’s co-ed softball team. Us old fogies with a bunch of graduate students. It’s been a blast…but I think I’m approaching retirement. May not be putting on the cleats this spring…will have to see.

7. I own over 2000 books. Over half of those are mysteries. I don’t see how that can be possible–I don’t think our house is big enough. But spreadsheets don’t lie. Do they?

I hope you enjoyed getting to know Bev, I know I did.  When I first visited her site, I am going to be quite honest, I was at first, a bit intimidated when I read her bio and saw the type of books that she read for “pleasure” (the classics, historicals, vintages, Austen, etc, etc…you get the picture).  But then after getting to know her, that intimidation then turned into a very high respect and awe.  When I think of the Classics, I think of being in HS and mandatory reading, not pleasure reading.  And then there is her ability to read so many books in a week.  In my eyes, she is truly amazing, and definitely has my respect, the respect that she TRULY deserves?  And one heck of a sense of humor!!!  Did I read that right?  2000 books?  2000? And I bet she has read every single one of them!!!!  Bev is positively a Shining Star!!!!

Before I introduce today’s guest, I want to let you know how excited I am with this weekly feature.  Once the questionaires are returned, I place them into a folder and do not read them until I prepare them for posting.  I feel this way, I am also getting to know our blogging buddies around the same time that you do….I know…corny….what can I say!!!!
I am guessing that 99% of today’s visitors can say that today’s guest has left a comment on their blog at some time.  I stumbled upon her blog in the beginning of my stalking days and she had a weekly meme where she shared her life’s experience living abroad in France, having little fluency in the language and I was in such awe of her courage.  I used to look forward every week to read about a new experience through her eyes.  I don’t think I would be able to up and move to another country, heck, I know I couldn’t.  I am sure she needs no introduction but today’s Sunday’s Shining Star is KATHY from BERMUDAONION WEBLOG
*When and why did you start blogging?
I used to read a couple of personal blogs on a fairly regular basis and as I would read them, I would think to myself that I could do that. I mentioned it to my son when he was home on his summer break in 2008 and he encouraged me (or should I say pushed) me into doing it.

*How and what made you decide on the name of your blog?
Well, when my son was pushing me, I told him I couldn’t start a blog because I wouldn’t even know what to call it and he came up with the name.

*What would you say is the main content of your blog?
Books and book related posts along with a few movie reviews and food posts.

*If books, what genres do you mostly read?
I read a variety of genres, but I would guess I’m heavy on literary fiction, memoirs, and YA. I’ve never really taken the time to evaluate it, though.

*How often do you post?
Daily.

*What are some of the things that you love about blogging?
The people and the discussions about books! I’ve met so many wonderful people (bloggers, authors and publicists) and learned so much about publishing. If someone had told me 5 years ago that I would become friends with people I met online, I never would have believed them, but it’s true!

*What are some of the negatives?
There is some drama from time to time, but overall, the only negative thing for me is the pressure I put on myself.

*Name 1-3 favorite items/postings that you have/do on your blog?
That’s a tough question! I guess I would say author interviews and posts about author events I’ve attended.

Photobucket

*Any advice you would give to new bloggers?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Most bloggers are more than happy to answer them.

*What draws you to follow someone’s blog?
I love blogs with personality. A blog doesn’t have to be about the same kind of books I like to read, if the blogger’s personality shines through. I enjoy reviews that include the reader’s reaction rather than an analysis of the book.

*Do you have any “pet peeves” that other bloggers do?
I don’t like it when I click on a blog and music starts playing – it generally startles me.

*Would you plase share 5-7 things about the person behind the screen so that we get to know the “real” you!!
My favorite color is red.

I love college sports, particularly football and basketball (Go Hokies!).

I am petrified (scared is not strong enough) of heights.

I love to sing and dance but don’t do either one well.

I was 16 when I graduated from high school.

The longest I’ve lived in one place is 12 years.

*Any other info you would like to share.
Not that I can think of, but I do want to thank you, Cheryl, for thinking of me for this feature!

I loved reading Kathy’s answers as I was preparing this post.  I learned so much more about her, except the one secret I think she is keeping from us.   I think she is a triplet lol.  She amazes me!!!.  How does she read so many books, writes such fantastic reviews, comments on so many blogs, I love to read about her lunch dates with authors, her book club, her weekend cooking, her family, and oh yes, lets not forget, life in general.  And then to find out that she graduated from High School at 16…what an accomplishment…definitely something to be very proud of.  One thing you mentioned, made me personally feel better because I truly thought I was the only one who had this reaction, was being startled when music starts playing.  I was a bit surprised, however, when she mentioned “drama” because when I think of and picture Kathy in my mind, I think of a kind, soft spoken, and genuine caring person.  I think you will all agree, Kathy is definitely a SHINING STAR!!!

Today my guest is not from the book community, however, I am proud to say, I did convert her!!!!   I can’t remember how we actually met each other.  I really think, instead of me stumbling onto her site, she tripped me lol.  We both started blogging around the same time, emailing each other, asking questions since we were newbies to the blogging world, found we had a lot of similarities in real life and I just loved her sense of humor, you will see why a little later, (I asked for apicture of herself, she sent me 2.  She is hysterical, has a great, wonderful funny blog with lots of giveaways.  She has since adopted me as her virtual little sister.  So today, please meet my guest, my Shining Star Big Sis  DOLLY FROM XMAS DOLLY

*When and why did you start blogging?
6.13.09 I’m a retired legal secretary, and on disability, and was at home. I needed to have something to do with my time. So, my daughter talked me into it.

*How and what made you decide on the name of your blog?
It was my mom’s doll that she got off a Valentine’s Candy Box from my dad that she saved all these years. Because it was dressed in red she took it out only at Christmas time, and because I love Christmas and my nickname is Dolly, but that’s another story.

*What would you say is the main content of your blog?
My kids, my grandkids and my hubby and his music.

*If books, what genres do you mostly read?
I like Stephen King, mythology, wizards, fairies, and the like.

*How often do you post?
I try to do it every day, but I’ve got therapy three times a week now, and it’s been taking a lot of out of me.
(addendum: she means physical therapy but……….lol)
*What are some of the things that you love about blogging?
Making new interesting friends. I totally love when everyone comes to my meme and plays along. “Monday’s Music Moves Me”! Everyone pics a song and Posts in accordance to whatever theme it is for that week. Love music!!! I play keys and the accordion. I also totally love give-aways doing them and winning them!!!

*What are some of the negatives?
DON’T GET ME STARTED! No, just kidding! There is one thing though. Some people take things the wrong way. You cannot add a tone of voice to your words at least I don’t know how. Some people cannot tell when you’re kidding. That gets me into trouble. I’m always in trouble. I was born in trouble. lol The only other one that stands out is I cannot get to all the blogs I want too in a day. There’s not enough time, and e-mail! OMG That has to be the biggest negative. I cannot answer all the e-mail I get. I know we get so much because when we join a give-away that’s one of the entry requirements, so you keep adding and adding and adding to your e-mail thus we get more mail then SANTA!

*Name 1-3 favorite items/postings that you have/do on your blog?
**NOT SURE WHAT YOU MEAN HERE.

Photobucket

*Any advice you would give to new bloggers?
Do not get discouraged. It’s really a lot of fun, but there is a lot to learn. Don’t start treating blogging as work. Blog for the fun.

*What draws you to follow someone’s blog?
Oh hells bells! I follow everybody. Well, unless there’s too much vulgarity or a bunch of stuff on it I don’t understand.

*Do you have any “pet peeves” that other bloggers do?
The only one I can think of is I just don’t think it’s right when someone doesn’t leave a comment when signing a linky. How long does it take to say thank you. You know like when we post our give-aways for example. They have over 100 entries and seven comments??? Nah, sorry I don’t think it’s right.

Example of her sense of humor.  When I asked for her image this was the first picture she sent.  She is always finds something funny, no matter what the situation, even if it involves herself.

*Would you please share 5-7 things about the person behind the screen so that we get to know the “real” you!!
The real me, huh! I love to cook. Baking is not my forte.
I love to crochet, but I don’t do it very well.
People say I talk too much… I know you do and don’t tell me you don’t because I know I do BUT did you every ask yourself why?
I have worked all my life. I was always around people, and now I’m home alone and not by choice. I don’t have many friends, so when someone does call… I rest my case.
I try to keep peace in the family (just like my mom use too guess I picked up where she left off), and that doesn’t work very well sometimes.
I’ve written a book that not too many people have read, but never had it published.
I totally LOVE ice cream, and
I love to dance. Years ago I was a professional dancer, but we won’t go there.

*Any other info you would like to share.
My daughter is NightOwlMama and is going to California next week on a blog convention I guess you call it, and I’m so happy for her. She’s going to see some cartoon movie, opening night red carpet thing. I don’t know that much about it, but I know she’s extremely happy, so I’m happy!

P.S. Why didn’t you pick somebody more interesting. I’m boring. —yawn!!! luv ya, Dolly

I think you all can read between the lines to see that she has a huge, warm, caring and genuine heart.  Her family and friends are her priority.  She does a lot of product giveaways and just recently was asked to do a book review!!!  Talk about a panic attack.  The emails were flying back and forth. And I have to say, she did a phenomenal job, so much so that the author has asked her to read and review the sequel so I am hoping that she will one day become part of our book community.  She has faced many of life’s challenges but always finds the humor in it to get her through….attitude is everything and she has a lot of it.  She is one special lady…that is why she is my Shining Star.  Please stop by her place and tell her that her little sister sent her.  And oh…..btw…she is also of Italian heritage so there will be plenty of food!!!  Thank you Big Sis for being you and for caring so much about me.

This past year, I have met so many amazing and wonderful people through blogging, and how I am in awe of what they do and accomplish.

This week I thought we would start a little differently.  Everybody ready?  Are you comfy?  Do you have your cup of coffee or tea by your side as we visit?  OK…ready?  Ooops…forgot to mention…make sure your cup is in a safe place because we are going to take a little test.  OK..here we go……………………….
Raise your hand if you have seen this picture around bloggyland.  Just what I thought!!  Next question…Raise your hand if you have entered in one of the MANY giveaways that she hosts on her blog.  Guess I should have asked that question differently..OK…everybody put your hands down lol.  Last question..Raise your hand if you have won a book from her site that now sits on your book shelf.  Thought so!!!  I know……. there are a few in my bookcase!!  Today, I am honored to have as my guest, KAREN FROM BOOKIN’ WITH BINGO

*When and why did you start blogging?

I started blogging on Jan. 9, 2009, after having done book reviews for about a year for a couple of websites and also on Amazon. Since my passion is reading and writing, I decided a blog would satisfy both (even though at the time I didn’t even know what a blog was!
*How and what made you decide on the name of your blog?
I wanted to name it something having to do with books since books would be my main theme of the blog so I liked using the little bit of alliteration of Bookin’ and Bingo. I used Bingo as it has been a family nickname since I was a child, with a long story behind it but it has nothing to do with the game of Bingo.
*What would you say is the main content of your blog?
Book information, reviews, and giveaways
*If books, what genres do you mostly read?
I read all kinds of books from non-fiction to science fiction. My current, and probably favorite genre, is memoirs as I like reading about real people. Of course, a good page turning mystery is still among my favorites as well.
*How often do you post?
I post daily. I used to post sometimes more than that, like two or three times a day but have cut back to more realistic, less stressful scheduling.
*What are some of the things that you love about blogging?
I love seeing what people write and making “virtual friends” and it always amazes me how some followers are so dedicated and loyal with their comments. I also enjoy creating the posts as I like to put in lots of pictures and clip art to add to the post. I know I use too much “stuff” and am too long for most people. I try to hold back because uncluttered is always said to be a better and more attractive blog but I have a hard time with it as it entertains me to do it my way!
*What are some of the negatives?
For the longest time, the most negative thing was how much of my personal time my blogging took up and that was basically hours a day. I have recently cut back and am enjoying doing fewer reviews as it gives me back my life again. I do get a bit testy with people who win something and when it doesn’t come, they email me about it as if it was my fault. I have no control over things once I submit the winners’ names. I do look up the info and then contact the publisher and I think most of the time, everyone gets what they wanted. The WORST is (and don’t get me wrong, I still love these followers but…) followers who email me 3 or more months after they should have gotten their books wanted to know where it is. That is so hard to go way back to find out who was to have gotten the book to them and then emailing them again and asking for the book all that time later.
*Name 1-3 favorite items/postings that you have/do on your blog?
My favorite item is putting my “Bingo Buddy” who is my “grand daughter puppy” and through her pictures and comments kind of let folks know what’s going on that day with me or in the world. It also allows me to use some humor.
I also like “decorating” according to the time of year. It goes back to how I enjoyed putting up monthly bulletin boards when I was a teacher.

*Any advice you would give to new bloggers?
Be patient and start slowly. As tempting as it is, don’t take on too much too soon. Also, keep good records which is easy if you label your emails according to what they are and store them in a folder. Then you can go back if you need to and find things.
*What draws you to follow someone’s blog?
Lots of things….a certain giveaway that tempt me, a title that is intriguing, or a blog that is written by a friend that I like to visit as much as possible.
*Do you have any “pet peeves” that other bloggers do?
I write posts that are way too long…I know that so I am sure that is a pet peeve for people who read my blog. For me, I think a pet peeve is when I want to enter a giveaway and there are SO many different ways to enter…I mean like 10 or more ways…it overwhelms me and often I just don’t enter at all. I also understand but get a little annoyed when winners aren’t announced on time or emailed that they won. Blogs that tell me to check back to see if I won, I don’t visit or enter as who can remember to go back?
*Would you please share 5-7 things about the person behind the screen so that we get to know the “real” you!!
I am pretty much an open book but here goes:
I am married for 37 years last June and have one son who is married and just gave us our first grandchild who is my pride and joy!

I am a retired school teacher who taught for 37 years but perhaps from being around kids, still think of myself as a young person
I love college and NFL football, video games–Wii and Nintendo DS- (puzzle, mind test, etc), and traveling to see my son and his family in TX and love to go to Las Vegas with my best friend/cousin as we are gal pals who have a silly, laughing, 2 or 3 days of fun. But other than that, just love being in my home with my books and computer.

I love to give gifts and thus, many of my books on my blog are ones I have purchased and give away just to share with my readers.
I am writing two books that WILL someday get finished!
*Any other info you would like to share.
I often think about stopping my blog as it does take up time I could be reading which I would do all day and night if I could, but enjoy it too much. I also want to thank Cheryl for the honor of being named Sunday’s Shining Star and just think her blog is so well done. I am proud to call her a fellow blogger but more so, a ‘virtual” friend!

Ohhh..where do I begin?  First, I really enjoyed having Karen as my guest today. I learned so much more about her that I didn’t know, which is what I would think would happen if all of us got together each week and just sat around gabbing.  To continue……  There were a handful of blogs that I came across when I first stumbled into this community, and her blog was one of them.  I must have been very lucky, because by the time that I finally found the courage to email them, not only did I get a response, but they mentored me and I can honestly say that to this day, I can also call them my friend, and Karen is definitely in that category.  If you could only see our emails, you would know..they are like novellas.  I remember spending hours on her blog, soaking up everything, entering all the books related to mystery, wondering where she found her graphics, laughing at the captions she puts with her puppy, wondering when she slept, ate, shopped, etc etc when she was posting 2-3 giveaways and reviews per day which meant she must have been reading 24/7.  I hope she doesn’t mind me telling this story, but, I think it is a bit funny.  My first impression of her blog was that she did this professionally, by that I mean, I thought she was someone who had a big job in the “publishing” world, and had been “in business” for many, many years….what did I know…I didn’t even know what a blog was at that point.  After stalking her for a few months, and a few other blogs I started seeing the “subscribe via email”…well my “you got mail” was full of news letters in a matter of weeks.  Except for the “professional one” and darn…I didn’t want to miss anything that was going on there.  So I got up the courage and emailed her, asking if she would please put me on her newsletter list.  I also asked her a few other questions.  And , to my surprise, I was shocked that within a few hours a response from this important person was in my mailbox and told me that she had been thinking about it and would look into it and thanked me for emailing her.  This “professional” THANKED ME!!! wow I thought I was really special lol.  And then a couple of weeks later she emailed me again, told me the newsletter was in place, and also took the time and explained some general issues about blogging and specific issues about her blog….WOW..was I surprised when she explained to me how long she had been blogging and that she wasn’t some CEO..lol. even so…Karen, in my eyes…is still a “PROFESSIONAL CEO” SHINING STAR.  And btw….she isn’t being a biased grandmother….her grandson is absolutely beautiful…a very handsome little man!!!!  Thank you, Karen, for all the books that I have won from your site and for being my guest today.  Since it seems that I have great luck on your blog, would you mind buying me a lottery ticket lol?!  And for those who stopped by to meet and greet my Shining Star, she has some great giveaways going on at her at her place, so check them out.  I guarantee, there will be a book giveaway that you will want to enter.  Good Luck!!

Has this happened to you during your blogging experience, you meet someone online, start chatting, find you have similar likes in books, start visiting that person’s blog and from her posts you get a feeling of her personality, start chatting some more, then find more similarities in real life and then something just clicks, and you know, that if you were to meet, that you would be bffs in real life too?  Well that has happened with my next Shining Star.  So please help me welcome this week’s guest, JULIE FROM READING WITHOUT RESTRAINT
*When and why did you start blogging?
I was cruising the internet late one night in April ’10 and I stumbled across Reading With Tequila, a wonderful book blog. Before then, I didn’t even know that book blogs even existed! After that, I was hooked and I started my own book blog. No one in my immediate family is an avid reader, so it is a great way for me to share my thoughts with like-minded book addicts!

*How and what made you decide on the name of your blog?
I thought of it right away. I wanted something catchy that flowed well. I think I did pretty good!

*What would you say is the main content of your blog?
Book reviews, bookish memes, etc……

*If books, what genres do you mostly read?
My favorites (at the moment) are thriller/suspense, chick lit and women’s fiction.

*How often do you post?
I try to post every day, but sometimes real life does get in the way. I am sure everyone knows how that goes?

*What are some of the things that you love about blogging?
The community! I have “met” some wonderful people that I consider true friends. I also love all of the book recommendations I have gotten. Before I started book blogging I never would have thought of reading paranormal or young adult, but now I do and I enjoy them.

*What are some of the negatives?
It is soooooo time consuming!

*Name 1-3 favorite items/postings that you have/do on your blog?
I love the memes In My Mailbox and It’s Monday What Are You Reading. I find the best books to add to my TBR list that way!

*Any advice you would give to new bloggers?
Be patient–your blog will grow on its own. Be honest in your reviews. Integrity in the book blogging community is very important!

*What draws you to follow someone’s blog?
The design catches my eye first. Second to that is if the blogger enjoys the same genres that I do.

*Do you have any “pet peeves” that other bloggers do?
Not really. None that I can think of anyway.

*Would you please share 5-7 things about the person behind the screen so that we get to know the “real” you!!
1. I am newly single
2. I am a horrible bookaholic! I can’t seem to stop buying them.
3. I have one sister and one baby niece in Phoenix
4. I have two dogs & one cat
5. I work for the federal gov’t

Julie and I have become very good friends, to the point where we even talk on the phone and are hoping to make plans to meet later this year.  It is difficult since we live on the opposite coasts of the United States.  She has such a kind, genuine, caring and huge heart.  A very emotionally strong and unconditional loving single mom who is trying (and succeeding) to teach her sons the morals and values of life.  She has been there for me during some rough times and I hope that I am offering her the same kind of support to her as she faces a difficult journey in her life.  If you haven’t stopped by her blog, and you have some time, her link is provided above, she writes phenomenal reviews.  Julie not only are you a Shining Star but I have the honor to call you my friend!!
