THURSDAY

If you follow this blog, you know how much I enjoy participating in memes.  Its a great way to meet new friends and get to better know old friends.  To think, 8 months ago, I didn’t even know what a meme was (had to google it) and today I am hooked.  So I am really excited that I have found 2 more memes for Thursdays.  See all of today’s posts, to see the new memes and click on the blogs’ name so you can join in on the fun.

Today’s Question:
Even though it’s usually a mistake (grin) … do movies made out of books make you want to read the original?
My Answer:
I am not a big movie person.  And on the rare occasions, that I may watch a movie, its because my hubby wants to see it.  If by any chance, it is a movie made from a book and I haven’t read it yet, I won’t watch the movie.  I will watch a movie after reading the book to see if it does the book justice, which the majority of times this has happened, it doesn’t.

Today’s Question:
If you’re not enjoying a book, will you stop mid-way? Or do you push through to the end? What makes you decide to stop?
My Answer:
Unfortunately, yes and more so since accepting requests for reviews.  I find myself, when not enjoying a book, either putting off picking it up to continue reading or going into a reading slump because of it.  That happened on a few occasions so I revised my review policy that I will at least read up to 100 pages in hopes that my opinion of the book changes or the storyline grabs me.  If not, I have to put it aside and on to the next.

What about you?  Do you push through or stop midway?  Would love to hear your thoughts on this topic?

Today’s Topic:
Have your reading choices changed over the years? Or pretty much stayed the same? (And yes, from childhood to adulthood we usually read different things, but some people stick to basically the same kind of book their entire lives, so…)
My Response:
For me, the choices have pretty much stayed the same.  In elementary school I remember that I always had a book but as far as the genre, I don’t remember.  However, middle and high school, I remember that my personal reading choices were the same as they are today.  I have always enjoyed the genres of suspense/mystery and also contemporary romance and literature.
