This week’s question:
What’s the most romantic book you’ve ever read?

(Mind you, I don’t mean the hard-core stuff you hide in plain wrappers under your mattress. I mean True Love, Romance, deeply emotional, heart-tugging, and all that stuff.)
And, secondly, did you like it? Is it your usual kind of reading, or did it take you by surprise?
My answer:
After reading the question, the first book that came to mind was The Ring by Danielle Steel, which a friend had recommended while we were in HS.  Even back then, I was into the suspense/mystery genre (I truly think I am a closet CSI, PI adrenelin rush agent, etc wanna be because I know I wouldn’t be able to work in that field because I am afraid of my own shadow).  I remember that I couldn’t put the book down and read it in just a couple of days. It was because of that book that hooked me into reading her novels.

From Lori’s site:
It struck me recently how much time I spend on this computer every day, blogging, chatting or playing games on Facebook, emailing friends and relatives, making cards and calendars, etc. etc. etc.
We depend on each other for book reviews, giveaways, encouragement, friendship, but how well do we really know each other?
So that is what this meme is all about, getting to know each other.

1. Do you take a daily multi-vitamin or supplement?
I probably should but don’t
vitamins

2. You’re snacking – popcorn – pretzels – potato chips or peanuts?

3. Waffles, Pancakes or French Toast?

This week’s question:
There’s something wonderful about getting in on the ground floor of an author’s career–about being one of the first people to read and admire them, before they became famous best-sellers.

Which authors have you been lucky enough to discover at the very beginning of their careers?
And, if you’ve never had that chance, which author do you WISH you’d been able to discover at the very beginning?
My Answer:
Sorry, I know I sound like a broken record but I’ll add two more names today.  But first is Vincent Zandri.  I read Moonlight Falls and was hooked.  Two other authors that I read last year am anxiously awaiting their next books are Bill Walker A Note From An Old Acquaintance and Sara Robinson, which was a total surprise because I usually don’t read memoirs but for some reson, this one looked interesting and I really liked her writing style for Love Always, Hobby and Jessie.

WEEK 24 QUESTIONS
1. Did you watch the Super Bowl? If yes, which part did you like the best, the game, the halftime show, the commercials and did you notice the mistake made with the National Anthem?
Sorry Lori….but….No…slept right through it.  When the boys lived home we hosted a party every year for all their friends but now with them out of state, it was very, very quiet.
2. I joined a new meme this week called “Monday’s Music Moves Me”, this month’s theme is love songs, Do you have a favorite love song?
Billy Joel’s  Love You Just The Way You Are
3. How many blog challenges have you entered this year?
Think I am up to about 17ish but am thinking there will be more with mini challenges throughout the year, that’s why Gina from Hott Books and I started a challenge for Challenge Addicts.  And she is WAY beyond my measly 17!!!

This week’s question::
I am paraphrasing from a friend’s Facebook wall her question:
“How would a teen-age boy who is going to work with his hands ever use Literature of England in his work?”
The age-old “How am I going to use this in real life?” question. How would you answer it?
My answer:
Wow….This is a hard one that really has me on the fence.  My family and I have had discussions similar to this.
In general, one would hope that maybe later on down the road, that one of these “students” would develop a love for books and reading.  And how would this help?  It could be an opening into conversations or to become engaged in conversations for times when being newly introduced to people.
But then on the other hand, and this is my opinion only, with the cost of higher education and text books, I feel that a college student should only take courses that are mandatory for his/her major.  All the electives are just money making for the colleges and a waste of time.  These kids come out of school with exorbitant school loans and no jobs available.  What does a finance major need with ceramics?  Or an engineering major need with, as stated Literature of England?
Having had 2 sons that recently graduated from college, as a mother, I read to them when they were younger, bought them books, took them to the library, etc, etc,  so they have the basis.  Now it is up to them what they choose to do with it.

WEEK 23 QUESTIONS

1. What was the first job your ever had?
CNA
Back in the day, lol, I was called a Nurse’s Aide and I started working while in HS
2. What was the worst job you ever had?
I actually had 2 degrees, RN and secretarial.  I worked for a surgeon as an assistant/plus doing office type work.  Lasted one week when I realized part of the job description was that I couldn’t leave the office until he did because I had to shut off the lights as he left each room.  Creepy!!!!!!!!!
3. What is the best job you ever had?
Registered Nurse
My last job.  My boys were young and I could make my own hours.  I couldn’t work
the floors but needed to have an active license and use the knowledge that I had.  Almost like a QA of medical records.

THURSDAY
Before we get to today’s meme, I would like to extend an apology to all those that stopped by yesterday and left comments, which I do read and appreciate.  However, due to a doctor’s appointment, personal issues regarding my mother and sister which I am the sole caretaker and responsible party for and timed posts that I am behind on, I was not able to find the time to visit and/or respond to all my fantastic and fabulous visitors.  I am so sorry.  It has been a bit overwhelming lately in the real world and it seems I just don’t have enough hours in the day.  Please accept my apology and I promise once things settle down, I will be back to normal, well…if I was ever normal to begin with lol.

Today’s question:
What’s the largest, thickest, heaviest book you ever read? Was it because you had to? For pleasure? For school?

My answer:
It was the first college text book that I purchased titled Care of the Adult Patient.  It was a little over $20. and I thought that was outrageous especially since I had so many other books to buy for that semester.  But that was the first, thickest, heaviest and of course one that needed to be brought to class every day.  I keep wanting to toss it thinking that the material is so outdated and if need be can be accessed online, but hubby quilts me into keeping in….why, I don’t know.

Questions:
1. What time do you usually wake up each morning?
It can range anywhere between 5-7am, depending on my back pain level which is usually what wakes me up.

2. What time do you usually go to sleep each night?
That also depends on when I get up in the morning or what kind of day I put in as far as pain.  On days where the pain is on the high end of the scale, which takes a lot out of me, I can be in bed (or the recliner) by 7pm.  But most nights its around 9-10pm

3. Standing at the foot of your bed, do you sleep on the right side of the bed, left side of the bed, or do you have the whole bed to yourself?
I am allowed 1/4 of the left side of the bed.  Hubby is quite the restless sleeper so for safety reasons, I try to stay clear  lol.  Plus I can only sleep in certain positions so don’t need much room.
