Happy Tuesday everyone!!!  Apologizing in advance.  There will be multiple posts today and tomorrow because there is just so much going on.  Authors visiting, new giveaways being posted and even an announcement for a Birthday Bash (that post is tomorrow).  Check both sidebars for all the giveaways and hope you enter for a chance to win, if not for you, maybe for someone on your Christmas list.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
*Grab your current read
*Open to a random page
*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
*BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
*Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

She backed out of the room and hurried into the other bedroom, not wanting to accept what Jovanic had said about not finding Kylie.

Week #10….Question

Do you have multiple books going at once? Or do you prefer to stick to one book at a time?

My Answer:

I am a one book gal, always have been. I feel that I might confuse plots, characters, or maybe even forget some details if I read more than one book at a time. Since reading for me is pure pleasure and enjoyment, I want to escape into the book I am currently reading and don’t think it would be the same reading more than one. However, it does amaze me when I see other bloggers that can read even 4 books at the same time. Maybe some day I will try it just to see.

This week’s Question:Once you begin a book, do you feel compelled to finish it? Or have you been known to give up in the middle of a book, to walk away from a book that is just too annoying, boring, etc.?

My answer:For the past year of reading requested reviews, I have had to put some books aside into the DNF pile. I will read, at a minimum of 50-100 pages and if I haven’t been pulled into the story line by then, I give up. There are so many books to review and read, that if I am struggling to read a book that does not interest me, my thinking is, that I am wasting time where I could be reading the next book in my pile.

I am so behind in reading, so when I saw this Read-A-Thon, I HAD to sign up.  Plus, what better way to exercise after eating a huge Thanksgiving dinner with all the desserts.  I plan on giving the muscles of my eyes, hands and fingers a real work out reading all those words and turning all those pages lol.  I’m ready for this one, the books are in order and all that is left to do, is to get hubby to understand the concept of a Read-A-Thon.
   From Jenn’s site:
Last Thanksgiving, Candace from Beth Fish Reads, Jen from Devourer of Books & I unveiled Thankfully Reading, an excuse to do an obscene amount of reading over the long Thanksgiving weekend. I’m excited to announce that we’ll be doing the event again this year!
Here are the details:
There are no rules to the weekend, we’re simply hoping to devote a good amount of time to reading, and perhaps meeting some of our reading challenges and goals for 2010. We thought it’d be fun if we cheered each other on a bit. If you think you can join in, grab the button and sign on to Mr. Linky. If you don’t have a blog, use the comments!
During the weekend, come back and link any Thankfully Reading Weekend posts to the Mr. Linky we’ll put up here on Friday, November 26. Feel free to link as many posts as you’d like. On Sunday will put up another Mr. Linky for your wrap-up post.
We’ll also be checking in on Twitter using hashtag #thankfulreading. Join in for the weekend or for only a single day. No rules, no pressure!
This year, we will be doing some fun Thankfully Reading mini-challenges over the weekend. Be sure to check back Thanksgiving weekend for more details!
And just to let you know, if you call, you may have to talk to the hubby, I won’t be accepting calls lol.

At two a.m., he slipped on a pair of leather gloves and pulled a balaclava over his face.  He retrieved a P40 semiautomatic pistol from his glove compartment and screwed on a silencer.  He set the gun on the seat beside him while he stuffed several pairs of flexicuffs and a roll of duct tape into his pocket.

Where do you get the books you read? Are you a faithful library patron? Or maybe a bookstore junkie? Do you exchange books with friends or family members?

Pre December 2009, I was all of the above.  If a book could be found, I would be in whatever type establishment it was.  However since 2010, I would say that approximately 90% of my books are sent to me for requested reviews.  The other 10% would be ebooks that I purchase that are on my personal tbr bucket list,  books that I win from giveaways entered or book swaps.
As for the 2nd part of today’s question, I apologize in advance if there are any authors reading this response, since I have been told that authors cringe when they hear about passing books on.  Yes, unless if it is signed, I do.  I just CAN’T throw a book away and after a while the house if overtaken by books so I have to pass them on, swap, and/or donate.  A few months ago, it was so bad that I got up the courage and purged 4 boxes of PBs that have been on my shelves for many, many years and donated them.  There are still  a lot and wonder if I will read them all in my lifetime, but I will die trying to lol.

This week’s question somes from Chad, Katrina’s hubby.  Thanks Chad!!

Today’s Question-Week #7
How did you get into reading? When and how/why did you really become “a reader”?
My Response:
Since I don’t remember and am not sure if this is the truth, but my mother would tell everyone, that it was due to her.  She would relate how she would put me on the potty for training, give me a book, and I would sit there a lot longer than the usual allotted time, and be very content.  Ironic thing is that I did the same thing with my boys during that toddler stage.  I do remember, however, always loving the smell of a new book and having the ability to visualize the story in my mind.  I’m not sure how old I was at that time but I can still remember reading The Diary of Anne Frank in elementary school and to this date, many, many years later, I can still recall the visuals created for that book.
