My Teaser:
  In silence, Mahoud followed at what could hardly be described a discreet distance.  The estrangement from his friends and neighbors was an unbearable agony, worse than any he had ever experienced.

  She was walking west, probably to grab a bite of lunch.  He put his van in gear and slowly followed.  A little ether on a handkerchief and the element of surprise would do the job nicely.
