ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Melissa Foster is the bestselling, award-winning author of three novels, Megan’s Way, Chasing Amanda, and Come Back to Me. She has also been published in Indie Chicks, and anthology. She is the founder of the Women’s Nest, a social and support community for women, and the WoMen’s Literary Cafe, a cross-promotional site for authors, reviewers, bloggers, and readers. My Thoughts and Opinion: This book is poignant, heart wrenching, emotional, a love story, suspenseful, with images of war, real life trauma, betrayals, friendships, family dynamics, lies, secrets, and so much more, that once the first page is opened, it can’t be put down. Bravo Ms. Foster!!!! I finished reading this book on December 30th, 2011, and as the saying goes, saved the best for last. This was definitely one of my top 5 books of 2011.

Ms. Foster’s writing style allowed the characters to jump from the pages, they were so life like. Her writing style, with detailed descriptions, allowed me to create images as if it were in real time be it if I was in Iraq or standing outside the doors of both the ICU and PICU of the hospital. The emotions and relationship dynamics between the characters were so profound and touching within the story line. However, for the reader, at least for this reader, thought provoking as each character examined their own what ifs and the guilt of their actions that might have changed the course of the outcome (vague–do not want to include spoilers).

This is the 2nd book I have read of Ms. Foster’s. The fist being Megan’s Way, which I also enjoyed. I highly recommend not only this book, but this author. This book is a must read, but, it is a box of tissue read. An Awesome Read!!!!

Today’s question:
Are there any “raved reads” –books that everyone seems to be talking about– that you’re hoping to get read this year, yourself? What books are they, and why are you hoping to read them? Is it because you want to say you’ve read it? Or, would you have chosen to read it, even if you’d discovered it yourself, and no one was raving about it?
My response:
I don’t think I have heard about any “raved reads” yet.

I have received an ARC that I was approached about and that I am anxious to read. I read his debut book this past year, Dead of Wynter and it was fantastic. The author is Spencer Seidel and his new novel is Lovesick. I’m not sure if it will be considered a “raved read” but I was excited when I was asked to review his latest novel.

Plus there are some other authors that I am hoping will have new books published this year. Will they be “raved reads”? I don’t know. But then I choose books that I enjoy not just because it’s the “hottest title out there”.

What abut you? Any “raved reads”? Or are you like me, it doesn’t matter what the IT book is, it depends if it is something I would enjoy?

I had only 5 or 6 folks join me, so I thought I might shelve it for a year or so and try again later. But I’ve had a couple of the participants tell me how much they enjoyed it and I’m game for another go round. So, for your challenge reading pleasure, I will once again host The Color Coded Reading

Now that the holidays are over, the decorations are all put away, and the cold winter weather is upon us and the days seem short, are you like me?

MY QUESTIONS:
Do you tend to hibernate? And, if so, what do you do for enjoyment?

MY ANSWER:
I really hate the cold dark days of winter and would much rather stay home with a good book and my fleece blanket.
