Announcement

Most of you know how this blog came to be, but for those who don’t, a quick history.  I had stumbled upon a book blog around this past Sept/Oct, never knowing this world existed.  This blog was started as a “personal journal of books I read”.  In Dec., some of my bloggy friends and mentors encouraged me to go “public” and start being put on a list for review requests.  At that time, I honestly thought that requests would be far and few between.  I was wrong.  To this day, I am amazed at the level this blog has grown to.  I have been so happy in this new community, blogging and reading so many old and new authors.
Fast forward to a few days ago.  I received a very surprising email from Lesley-Ann, creator of Bookventures Book Club.  But first a little bit of info about Bookventures:

Bookventures Book Club is an open online book club. Any one can join. We welcome all genres of books however we do have a page limit of 500 pages. To spice things up, we also welcome movie adaptations of books. Feel free to join in on the discussions. You can find us at www.bookventuresbookclub.ning.com Visitors, if you would like a space to have your own discussions, feel free to join our network and create a group. Please be sure to keep your content related to reading or book discussions.

Back to the email received.  I had to read it twice.  I was asked to be a co-moderator of this established blog, especially during Author Chats.  Once again, I was totally amazed and also honored.  I have accepted the invitation.  I will be posting on this blog what is also going on Bookventures and hoping you will join in.  So if you can’t find me here, check all the sites (left sidebar) where you can find me.  And Lesley-Ann, thank you for the vote of confidence,  I promise not to let you down.

From An Island Life:
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
If you’d like to participate, visit An Island Life answer the question and then post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!
My question is:
What’s your favorite annual flower?

My answer:
Star Gazer Lily.  A mix of white and pink with a beautiful fragrance.
So glad that Yankee Candle carries this scent so I have it year round.

So, if you’d like to participate, just repost this on your blog, sign MckLinky on her site, and check out other blogs in MckLinky! Let’s connect and make new book bloggy friends!! So, if you consider yourself a book blogger, come join the fun!
Pretty please – Your blog should have content related to books, including, but not limited to book reviews.

Today’s Twist:
This week’s question: Tell us about some of your favorite authors and why they are your favorites!
There are many authors that I try to read as many of their books that I can and a few would be:  James Patterson, Lisa Jackson and Karen Rose for well known authors.  The suspense grips you to the very last page.
Since I have been reviewing, I have had the opportunity to read many debut authors and there are 2 that, I think, are right up there.  Their books are from different genres and from reading the reviews across the blogosphere, I am not the only one who thinks that they are worth watching.  First, since I mentioned authors in the suspense/mystery genre, would be Vincent Zandri author of Moonlight Falls and his newest one that I can’t wait to read, The Remains.  He is a blend of Patterson and Hitchcock.  Second, would be an author that I read and reviewed his debut back in Feb. and loved it.  A mixture of romance/suspense.  His writing style was such that you became so engrossed with the characters, their lives and transported to the setting in the plot.  All the makings for a great read.  He is Bill Walker, author of, A Note of An Old Acquaintance.  I found out yesterday, when visiting Bookventures Author’s Chat that he is in the process of writing a sequel..can’t wait.

FYI re: A Note from an Old Acquaintance

I read A Note from an Old Acquaintance by Bill Walker back in February and loved it.  The book was his debut novel and what a first book it was!!!  In case you read it or are planning to read it in the near future, knowing that he is going on tour again, Bookventures is hosting a chat with Mr. Walker over the next couple of days.  Wanted to share the link for you in case you have any questions or comments that you might like to add.  Head on over to  http://grou.ps/bookventuresbookclub/119737#.  He is also asking his readers to help him name the title of the sequel and he will be naming  them in the acknowledgment section of the book.  How cool would that be…to see your name in print!!??!!

Today’s Topic:
Do you have friends and family to share books with? Discuss them with? Does it matter to you?
My Response:
Between my family and friends, there are only 2 people that love to read and they live out of state.  I send the majority of my books to my cousin and we will share what we think in our emails or she will check out my blog to read my review of a book I have sent to her.  It does matter, especially when I finish a book that I can’t wait to discuss with someone.  That is one of the main reasons I started this blog, because now I have many friends to discuss my books with, to see what they are reading and which books they recommend.
