Through Hazel Eyes won the first Honorable Mention at the New York Book Festival in 2009. The novel is a journey of life through the eyes of Madison Ragnar, a high school English teacher who is struggling to recover from an emotionally abusive relationship. Madison s speckled view of the world is seen through her troubled students, a fellow teacher, an intriguing man who enters her life, and a haunting past. Yet everything comes into focus when she learns to trust in herself for the first time in thirty years.
Madison discovers that the most commanding role played throughout our lives is fate. There are times when we embrace it, times when we curse it, and always times when we are blinded by it. As a result of blinding fate, Madison s past catches up to her, and with the help of her students, she learns why a mockingbird is worthier than a diamond ring.
“Because the iris is the tunnel to our souls, this is where we look in others to find unspoken answers. It is the whites of our eyes that hold our sacred secrets, and knowing that the iris will divulge all, the white remains pure.” – Madison Ragnar, Through Hazel Eyes.
Through Hazel Eyes is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, PathBinder and other sites. A free sample is available on Heather’s website at www.HeatherHummel.net.

Friday Blog Hop (3 of 4)
Every day I seem to find another book blog that I start following. In the spirit of the Friday Follow, I thought it would be cool to do a Book Blog Hop to give us all bookies a chance to connect and find new blogs that we may be missing out on! It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs that they may not know existed!
So, if you’d like to participate, just repost this on your blog, sign MckLinky on her site, and check out other blogs in MckLinky! Let’s connect and make new book bloggy friends!! So, if you consider yourself a book blogger, come join the fun!
Pretty please – Your blog should have content related to books, including, but not limited to book reviews.
The Hop is going to start having a CRAZY twist each week, to get to know each other a little better!
Each week, I will ask you a question that you will answer on your own blog hop post on your blog – just a way for us to interact and get to know one another! So, when you enter you blog link below, make sure YOU LINK DIRECTLY TO YOUR BLOG HOP POST for the week!!

(in your own blog hop post on your own blog – not in the linky below, please!!!)
Hi…my name is Cheryl. After a time of stalking and learning about this book blogging world, that appeared to be so much fun, I wanted to be part of the neighborhood where there were so many people who wanted to talk about books. I am not surrounded by readers in real life where I could discuss a great book I had read, but here in bloggy land, there are so many friends that understand the love of books.

Booking Thru Thursday
Today’s Topic:
Name a book or author that you truly wanted to love but left you disappointed. (And, of course, explain why.)
My Response:
A hard question this week. Off hand I can only think of 3 answers. One being Carol Higgins Clark, I tried reading one of her books years ago, thinking her books would be similar to her mother’s, but remember being quite disappointed. So much so that I never did finish the book. Two, recently I tried reading Nancy Grace’s Eleventh Victim, especially with all the hype, got it from the library and another one I set aside. And third, would be any book that I start, read 1/3 into it and have to put it down.
