Todays Question:
What makes you love / hate a character in a book?
My Answer:
First and foremost, I need to relate to the characters, as if they are life like.  With both good and bad traits, emotions, habits, etc.    A few months ago I read Beachcombers, about 3 sisters returning to their family home in Nantucket and following their lives over the course of a summer.  I didn’t want the book to end because I felt that I was part of “their circle” and wanted the story to continue.  I guess that is why I am not a fan of UF, PNR.  As far as “hating” a character, it depends on the plot.  If there is an “evil” or “bad” character, and the writer describes and conveys the personality as life like, but maybe not relatable,  I am able to “hate” that “person”.

Meet Me On Monday (4 of 5)

Hosted by Java from Never Growing Old

“Meet Me On Monday!” (From Java’s site)
Blogging is a funny thing…we tell our most intimate thoughts for all to read and yet most of the time I find myself sitting and wondering, “who is this person!?” I know them…but yet I don’t know them! I want to know who the person is behind all those words so I thought of a great way for all of us to “meet” each other!
Every Sunday I will post five get to know you questions that you can copy and paste into your own Monday post and we can all learn a little more about each and every one of us!!
“Its a great way to to meet new friends and for others to get to know me better….one Monday at a time!!!”….as quoted by the Chacogirl!!
I will make this SIMPLE and FUN!!!

SUNDAY

Hosted by Kayla at The Eclectic Element
Slapdash Sunday is a day for your proverbial week ‘leftovers.’ Is there something you wanted to say, but just forgot? Is there something you want to write about, but isn’t worth a whole page? Do you have a random thought, funny or otherwise that needs to be written down?

That is what Slapdash Sunday is for!
Today’s Topic:  AWARDS
Since I received 2 more awards this past week, it got me thinking……

Photobucket

I honestly get that warm and fuzzy feeling with each award.  I still get excited when someone leaves that comment to visit their blog because an award is waiting for me.  I think it is a great honor when a peer presents an award.  Or maybe its just me, because I still am amazed, that people actually read and enjoy my blog.   Or maybe its because this time last year, I didn’t even realize that this world existed. Or maybe its because I am still having so much fun as I did when I joined my first challenge and participated in my first meme (had to google what a meme was because I had no idea).
I know that receiving and then passing on an award takes up a bit of time but in my opinion, it’s worth it.  I respect that some bloggers have a “no award policy” and I do honor that request.  However, I do wonder why that is.
What are your thoughts on receiving awards?  Do you accept awards?  Or do you have a “no award policy” and why?  Would love to hear what you think.  Let’s have a Slapdash Discussion.

Award Time

Photobucket

This past week the fall weather was upon us here in New England but I was feeling warm and fuzzy.  I didn’t receive one award.  I received 2!!!!  Bev from My Reader’s Block presented me with the following awards:

Bev is a relatively new blogger, but her reviews read as a seasoned writer.  Her personality comes through with each posting.  If you haven’t visited her, please stop by her place, look around, say hi and maybe even become a follower.  Her blog is that good!!!  Thank you Bev for these 2 awards, it is an honor to receive them.  And now for the criteria:
To accept these awards it is required that I share ten things about myself. (I don’t want to bore anyone so am going to alter the rules a bit)  I am going to share 5 things about this past week.
1.  Hubby and I became official empty nesters, bittersweet emotions with this one.
2.  Son who lives 5 hours away came home yesterday  🙂
3.  I have been in a reading slump, don’t know why but need to get out of it because my review pile is staring at me.
4.  Hubby is starting on getting the room prepared that is going to become my library/office.  🙂  Really excited about this….lol  MY own room!!  New desk chair arrived and put together, new bookcase waiting to be loaded.
5.  Lost a life long friend.  Harsh reality learned…life is short, enjoy every moment, it could be your last.
Now I pass these awards on (in no particular order)
