I was tagged by Julie, my partner in crime (lol) from Reading Without Restraint.  One of the bestest part of blogging, that I have found, is the friendships that form and Julie is one of those.  She has an awesome blog with honest and well written reviews.  If you get the chance, please stop by, visit and say hi!!  So here goes…I hope I don’t bore you!!!
1.  When do you usually know and feel that it’s finally the holidays?
When the house is decorated and I have started shopping, lol which I haven’t even made my list yet!!!

2.  What do you want for Christmas this year?
Honestly, I really don’t need anything, BUT, if hubby decides to get me something sparkly, I won’t refuse it.  There is one thing that I do look forward to every year, and that is my Hallmark collectible ornament, which my youngest son has taken over buying for me.

3.  Do you go all out with decorations?
Unfortunately my holiday decorator moved 5 hours away.  I have been spoiled for many years because my son would do all the decorating inside and out and he did a great job.  And this is the first year that both boys aren’t here.

4.  What are you doing Christmas Eve?
For years, we hosted a Catholic Italian dinner of 7 fishes but because of my back, I haven’t been able to do it.  We plan are going out and then visiting.

5.  What are you doing Christmas Day?
Spending the day with family and eating too much.

6.  It’s Christmas time. What are you reading?
I am not a seasonal reader so it is whatever book is next in the pile.

7.  Favorite movie to watch during the holidays?
I am neither a TV or movie fan but remember watching Christmas Vacation with the boys when they were younger.

8. Favorite Christmas song?
Little Drummer Boy

9.  Favorite holiday drink?
Sambuca

10.  How is your Christmas shopping going?
It isn’t!!!!

11.  If you could spend Christmas Day anywhere else, where would you spend it?
On a Caribbean beach

12.  Any holiday traditions?
Those that I mentioned earlier.  The Christmas Eve 7 fish feast and my Hallmark dated ornament, one for every year hubby and I have been married.  We will have 29 this year.

13. Favorite thing about the holidays?
Being with family, friends and all the Christmas cookies!!

Award (3 of 4)

It has happened again….and the feeling never changes.  I still get excited and feel warm and fuzzy when someone leaves me that little message…”I have an award for you”.   I guess it’s because I still can’t believe there are people who really like my blog, a blog that began as a personal journal.

Teresa, from Diary of a Domestic Goddess (don’t you just love her blog’s name….I do!!!) presented me with this award on Friday.  If you haven’t visited before, please stop by, visit a bit and say hi.

Now for the criteria that comes along with accepting this award, however, I am going to take a little liberty and make some changes.  (am running out of things to tell you about myself lol)
Here are the rules:

Share 7 5 things about myself
Pass the award to 15 5 bloggers recently discovered
Notify the blogger recipients
Link to the blogger who gave the award

1.  The happiest time of my life was during my boys’ childhoods.  Our house was always the “house to go to and hangout”.  During the summer, their friends were here every single day having fun in the pool (hubby couldn’t understand why the grocery bill was so much money but had to have pickies, pizza, soda, etc etc.)  I loved it!!!!
2.  Always wished I could sing4.  I am terrified of heights

3.  I’m a crier..happy, sad, whatever the situation, I cry.

5.  I am a Nervous Nelly and worry too much…working on changing that!!

I am now passing the torch to: (in no particular order):

Holiday

Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Today I will be taking a day off from blogging, to celebrate and give Thanks for everything that I have.  We will be spending the day with family, eating too much, talking about everything and anything, then complain that we ate too much but, sure, I’ll have another piece of that pie lol. And then if we can get up from sitting at the table,  head on home so we can unbuckle our pants and put on something comfy and relax.

So to all that may stop by today, Happy Thanksgiving!!!!  See you tomorrow!!!

Award Time

Photobucket

This past week the fall weather was upon us here in New England but I was feeling warm and fuzzy.  I didn’t receive one award.  I received 2!!!!  Bev from My Reader’s Block presented me with the following awards:

Bev is a relatively new blogger, but her reviews read as a seasoned writer.  Her personality comes through with each posting.  If you haven’t visited her, please stop by her place, look around, say hi and maybe even become a follower.  Her blog is that good!!!  Thank you Bev for these 2 awards, it is an honor to receive them.  And now for the criteria:
To accept these awards it is required that I share ten things about myself. (I don’t want to bore anyone so am going to alter the rules a bit)  I am going to share 5 things about this past week.
1.  Hubby and I became official empty nesters, bittersweet emotions with this one.
2.  Son who lives 5 hours away came home yesterday  🙂
3.  I have been in a reading slump, don’t know why but need to get out of it because my review pile is staring at me.
4.  Hubby is starting on getting the room prepared that is going to become my library/office.  🙂  Really excited about this….lol  MY own room!!  New desk chair arrived and put together, new bookcase waiting to be loaded.
5.  Lost a life long friend.  Harsh reality learned…life is short, enjoy every moment, it could be your last.
Now I pass these awards on (in no particular order)
