This week’s question:
Did you do any reading in lieu of watching the football game, yesterday, or were you foregoing reading to watch the game? If you read a book (or books) what did you choose?
My response:
Since I participated in a read-a-thon this weekend, I did read all afternoon.  However, once the game started and my husband made is traditional chili, I watched the first half and the half time show with him.   I felt I HAD to since I am from New England.  I know very little about the sport but was rooting for the “home team”.  Second half, I did a little of both.  I was hoping to finish my current read, which is an ARC from Meryl L. Moss Media, The Legacy of Eden by Nelle Davy.

February is being hosted by Metro Reader

Mailbox Monday was created by Marcia of A girl and her books and is now on tour.

According to Marcia, “Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.”
Empty mailbox this week.

The hosts for the wickedly wonderful weekend of reading are
Rebecca From Kindle Fire
and
April of My Shelf Confessions.
Wrap Up:  330 pages/360
Congratulations to those that participated!!!!
I know I didn’t even come close as to what others accomplished but for me, I was happy.  This is the 2nd read-a-thon this year that I actually was able to read.  In past years, something always interfered.  I was hoping to finish a book, came close, but did make a huge dent.  Almost…but the eyes just got tired.

Aloha Friday

From An Island Life:
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
If you’d like to participate, visit An Island Life answer the question and then post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

QUESTION:
What book are you reading?
Answer:
Killer Bytes:  A Novella of Intrigue by Alan Williams then on to The Legacy of Eden by Nelle Davey.  I signed up for a weekend Read-A-Thon so hopefully will get a lot of reading done these next couple of days.

I have signed up for another Read-A-Thon starting today.  And it’s perfect timing.  I am a bit under the weather with bronchitis, so I plan to get nice and comfy with my fleece blanket, my hot coffee and read.  There is still time to join up, just click above. Good Luck to those that are participating.  I will be  checking in to see what’s going on in the neighborhood but if I don’t respond right away, I’ve gone to where my book has taken me.

Today’s question
A while ago, I interviewed my readers for a change, and my final question was, “What question have I NOT asked at BTT that you’d love me to ask?” I got some great responses and will be picking out some of the questions from time to time to ask the rest of you. Like now.
heidenkind asks:
Have you ever read a random book left in a waiting room or on a park bench, etc., and did you like it?

My answer:
Great question.  However, I can’t say that this has ever happened to me, at least that I remember.

W.W.W. Wednesday

I’m posting about this early,  just in case you are like me.  I saw this on Lori’s blog, Escape With Dollycas Into A Good Book, yesterday and thought perfect!!!  I know that there’s this big football game this weekend, however, I am not a sports fan.  We used to host Super Bowl parties and my family only tolerated me because I lived here lol.  But usually I’m not allowed in the family room (where the big TV is) or even to talk during the game lol.  So I’m joining another party!!!

The Read-A-Thon is from Feb 3rd to Feb 5th.   Click above for more details.

Today’s question:
How far along are you in your current read before you start thinking about what you’ll read next?
My answer:
Usually the Wednesday following I start my current read since I participate in Miz B’s W.W.W. Wednesdays, which asks the question, “What do you think you will read next?”  So I start to peruse my TBR piles of requested reviews that are in my bookcase, and those on my spreadsheets for my Kimmy Kindle and Sunny Sony and see which one is calling me to please “pick me”.  From there I pick 2, however, if for some reason a book gets delivered that needs to be read as a priority, that system goes right out the window.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ELIZABETH FROM SILVER’S REVIEW

Elizabeth has been selected as a nominee for the Top Writing Blogs Award!  If you aren’t a visitor of her blog, you may remember her when she was showcased one Sunday as a Shining Star. (which I hope to eventually bring back).  Elizabeth and I met online and seriously think we may be distant cousins, so much so, that we call each other “Cuz”.  Voting started yesterday and I would love it if she won as she is definitely deserving of this award.  So I ask if you could take a few minutes out of your days and do the following:

http://blog.ecollegefinder.org/writing-blog-award/

Voting for the competition began yesterday, January 24, 2012!

Visitors may vote as many times as they’d like during the voting period, which will continue through February 3, 2012, at 5 PM EST.

Please click on the button in the top right corner to get to the voting page or click on the button at the top of this post.
Once you get to the voting page, you will see a list of nominees.
Please put a check mark in the box next to my blog name:

Thank you, from both my cousin and I.  I’m off to vote, once, twice, , ok a few times, I really want her to win!!!!!

Today’s question:
What’s more important: Good writing? Or a good story?
(Of course, a book should have BOTH, but…)

My answer:
This took quite a bit of thinking, and yes, both are needed.  But I think if the story or the premise is not there to grip you, no matter how well it is written, it won’t make for an enjoyable read.

Oh well..another not s0 good reading day.  Yesterday was an appointment with a lady who assists with liquidations of houses which I am still in the process of with my Mom’s house.  Not an easy task for those who don’t know and for those who do know, understand.  Both physically and emotionally draining as you go through memories of your life.

Murphy’s Law…it never fails.  I sign up and it is a time frame when I have my worse reading schedule albeit, real life obligations, not feeling well, appointments, etc etc. Next time I will not announce nor sign up for a read-a-thon and I can guarantee, it will hours of reading  lol.  Yesterday, I think I have bronchitis, I sat in my recliner, switched on Kimmy Kindle and the next thing I remember was that Steve was calling to let me know that he was leaving work ( he still has not been released to drive from the surgery so a coworker drops him off at a drop off/pick up spot where I meet him everyday to bring him to and from home).  So again yesterday I didn’t get much reading time in.
