AUGUST 9th to AUGUST 23rd, 2012

WHAT IN GOD’S NAME
by SIMON RICH

SYNOPSIS:

Welcome to Heaven, Inc., the grossly mismanaged corporation in the sky. For as long as anyone can remember, the founder and CEO (known in some circles as “God”) has been phoning it in. Lately, he’s been spending most of his time on the golf course. And when he does show up at work, it’s not to resolve wars or end famines, but to Google himself and read what humans have been blogging about him. When God decides to retire (to pursue his lifelong dream of opening an Asian Fusion restaurant), he also decides to destroy Earth. His employees take the news in stride, except for Craig and Eliza, two underpaid angels in the lowly Department of Miracles. Unlike their boss, Craig and Eliza love their jobs – uncapping city fire hydrants on hot days, revealing lost keys in snow banks – and they refuse to accept that earth is going under.

The angels manage to strike a deal with their boss. He’ll call off his Armageddon, if they can solve their toughest miracle yet: getting the two most socially awkward humans on the planet to fall in love. With doomsday fast approaching, and the humans ignoring every chance for happiness thrown their way, Craig and Eliza must move heaven and earth to rescue them – and the rest of us, too.

The Unveiling !!!! The New Blog!!!!!

For a while, well quite a while, Gina, from Hott Books and Hott Designs, has been itching to give me a new look.  And lately I have been thinking that since I am coming up on my 3 year Blogiversary, I also wanted a change, for a  modern, book themed looking blog.   And that’s exactly what I told Gina, along with some color choices, and voila!!!…my new blog.  I saw the final look at the same time you did!!  So…be honest….what do you think?  I know I love it but there will be some tweaking along the way, so would really love your input for ideas.

I think she did an extraordinary job!!!!!  Knowing her work, she does the graphics for my Partners In Crime Tours tour banners, I knew that she was going to do a fantastic job, and she did!!!  She also asked for your input, since it really is for you, how you feel when you visit, what you like or don’t like when looking at it, because as you know, as editors of a blog, we work behind the scenes.  It’s  our followers that see the actual blog look so I want you to like what you see when you visit.  So let us know what you think!!

Gina:  Fantastic job, Thank you so much for all the work you put into designing the new look.  I truly do love it!!  Your work is amazing!!  And if anyone is thinking of changes for your own blog,  click on her design button on the left sidebar.

P.S.  If by chance you have my old blog button on your blog, don’t forget to grab the new one.  Would greatly appreciate it!!!!!

Happy 4th of July and W.W.W. Wednesday

Review “Banal” by Vincent Zandri

Banal by Vincent Zandri
Published by: Bear Media
Publication Date: June 9, 2012

File size: 91 KB
Review Copy from: Author
Edition: Kindle
My Rating: 4

Synopsis:
Is a writer suffering from a never ending bout of writer’s block capable of murder? Or is he simply bored with his life? In this previously published short story by bestselling noir author, Vincent Zandri, a writer commits the ultimate act of destruction to a neighbor and friend if only to finally uncover the one story he needs to write himself out of his troubles. But then, not all murders are what they appear to be. Nor are all stories.

My Thoughts and Opinion:
If you are a regular follower of my blog, you know that Vincent Zandri is my Number 1 author of mystery. My thoughts on his writing is that he is abundantly talented and has a gift. Each book, once you pick it up, have no clue where it is going to take you. Each book has a slightly different tone and writing style, so his books, in my opinion are unique. You won’t get the “same ole, same ole”.

Banal, a digital short story, is a psychological thriller that is fully packed with an intense descriptive narrative within it’s few pages. The setting and characters brought to life with the author’s depiction and presentation. What amazed me, was that I was able to create such a vivid imagery, due to the writing style, within those few pages. The plot, deep, dark and chilling, again within only several pages. The story line and conclusion had me shaking my head as to the interpretation. Not only did the author pen a calculated psychological tale, but he also, in his creative style, played the reader in a cognitive manner as to what exactly transpired in those few short pages. What was imaginary and/or real. But in true Zandri style, the author leaves the reader wanting more of his work!! Another phenomenal and brilliant piece of literary work!! He is the master of his craft!! Incredible!! A profound read!!

100th Follower

OMG !!!!!!  I am soooooo excited.  A few months ago I never thought about having followers.  I created this blog as a “personal journal” for books I had read.  But with the help, kindness and encouragement of several kind book bloggers, I took the chance of going “public.”  And as they say “The Rest Is History”

Thank you Morgan from Smitten With Books (http://www.smittenwithbooks.blogspot.com/) for stopping by, visiting and becoming my 100th follower.  And thank you to all the other 99 followers.

I had been thinking that if I did make it to 100 followers, I would personally sponsor a giveaway.  But with all my personal issues and appointments, I am afraid I would not have the time needed to do one, especially since it would be a 1st for me.  So this is what I am thinking…….a celebration in the middle of April for a “post 100th follower and a “return to blogging” after my surgery.  Again THANK YOU ALL !!!!!!!!
