Slapdash Sunday (2 of 2)

SUNDAY

Slapdash Sunday is a day for your proverbial week ‘leftovers.’ Is there something you wanted to say, but just forgot? Is there something you want to write about, but isn’t worth a whole page? Do you have a random thought, funny or otherwise that needs to be written down?

That is what Slapdash Sunday is for!
My blog roll is getting to be as long as my tbr bucket list.  So this week I attempted to do a little summer cleaning.  I clicked on each one to see when was the last time there had been a posting.  The easy ones were those I kept because they were up to date,  and those I deleted that hadn’t had a post for months.  The ones I weren’t sure of what to do with, were the ones in between.  So today, my questions are:
**How often do you do a blog roll cleaning?
**What criteria do you use when either keeping and/or deleting blogs?
**Do you find, and lately this has been happening to me, that there are so many blogs in my list/google reader, that they all seem to blend in together either due to similar names, same blog layout, etc. etc.  Is there a trick or tip that use on how to keep each one separate in your mind?  Is there a setting on blogger that I may be missing to put blogs in different categories like an example:  same genre,  memes, challeges, etc.?
Would love to hear from you !!!  How do you keep your blog roll up to date and functional?

Do Nothing But Read Day !!!!

Does this not sound like fun ??!!??  Perfect excuse to let family members know that they are on their own for cooking, cleaning, etc etc.  Saw this in my GoogleReader via Caroline Bookbinder’s Blog.  Thank you Caroline.  Tomorrow is the 1st of 2 for 2010,  Do Nothing But Read Day.  I’m signed up, books are in my pile,  plan on getting a good night’s sleep, coffee pot set on automatic and ready to go.

It’s almost here–the first Do Nothing But Read Day of 2010! To make things easier this time around, all you have to do is fill out a web form with your name, email address, and some other optional information.

Why do I need your information? Well, like last time, I’m going to do a drawing of everyone who officially signs up and give you a fantastic prize of books and other goodies. I promise I won’t give away anything you put in the form.
Bottom line: sign up and you could win stuff!

In December of 2009, Amanda Lanyon-LeSage said something on Facebook that could possibly change the world. She merely wished that she could take a day off and do nothing but read. Her idea was seconded–and thirded and fourthed–and then it happened for real.
The first Do Nothing But Read Day was held on Sunday, December 20, 2009.
In 2010, there will be two editions of Do Nothing But Read Day:
June 27 and December 19.

Its another warm day here in New England, and I’m not just talking about the weather.  Yesterday I got that warm, fuzzy feeling yet again, this time Rae from In The Forest Book Reviews, presented me with this award.

Photobucket
It amazes me every time, that to think, just a few months ago, I was wishing I could be a part of this blogging community.  And here, again, one of my blogging buddies thinks that my blog is worthy.  So thank you Rae.  I hope you don’t mind but going to just slash the numbers a bit regarding the criteria in accepting.  The rules are:
So I guess what I need to do now is share seven five things about myself and pass this on to 15  5 blogs I have recently discovered. Hmmm…okay, here goes…
Warning, Warning (here comes the boring part)
  1.  I drink iced coffee year round
  2.  I am usually awake (especially in the summer) around 5:30am and love to listen to the noises outside my window.
  3.  Am not a “watch a movie” person.
  4.  I ask a lot of questions (lol as a few of you know) but believe that is a form of learning.
  5.  I so love being part of this book blogging community.
Now to the 5 blogs I have recently discovered (in no particular order):

My plans this beautiful Saturday,  is to be laid back and work on a few of my blogging to-do items.  Write some drafts, update a few things,  there is even a little bulb going on for creating a Saturday meme.. we will see if I can bring it together and then introduce it to you and get your feedback.
What are your plans for today?   Anything special?  Want to share?  Ok…I am off to present awards, get to my lists so that I can get to my reading.  Have a great day!!!!

FRIDAY

Hosted by An Island Life

From An Island Life:
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
If you’d like to participate, visit An Island Life answer the question and then post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!
My Question is:
My son recently went on vacation and had stories about the flight so I thought I would ask this:

On a plane do you prefer the aisle, middle or window seat?
My Answer:
I prefer the aisle or window seat but then so does hubby, so I get stuck in the middle every time.

Friday Book Blog Hop (2 of 3)

Photobucket
Hosted by Jennifer from CRAZY FOR BOOKS

Here are the instuctions from her site:
Every day I seem to find another book blog that I start following. In the spirit of the Friday Follow, I thought it would be cool to do a Book Blog Hop to give us all bookies a chance to connect and find new blogs that we may be missing out on! It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs that they may not know existed!
So, if you’d like to participate, just repost this on your blog, sign MckLinky on her site, and check out other blogs in MckLinky! Let’s connect and make new book bloggy friends!! So, if you consider yourself a book blogger, come join the fun!
Pretty please – Your blog should have content related to books, including, but not limited to book reviews.
