This week’s question:

What, if any, kind of music do you listen to when you’re reading? (Given a choice, of course!)

My answer:
This is a good question, and maybe you can even help, because I find my situation to be strange. I can’t read if there is music on. I find it too distracting. Whenever the hubby is home, especially when we are sitting in the backyard by the pool, it’s a given, there is music. However, if I am in my “reading room” or reading in bed, I have to have the TV on but with the volume low. Strange, don’t you think? When there is music, I have trouble staying focused even if it’s one of those books that I call a “transport” book, the kind of book that I am so engrossed that I don’t know what is going on around me. Music is the one thing that can interrupt that state of mind, whereas the TV doesn’t. I really don’t know why that is….any thoughts????

This book is a captivating page turner, which would have been, in a normal situation, read in a few days. However, due to my real life issues it is taking me much longer. I have never reread a book, but once I finish this, down the road, I just might pick it up and read it the way it should be read with undivided attention.

I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of prayers, well wishes, and genuine care that I have received in emails and comments about my Mom. You have no idea how you all have touched me and and made me feel. Vicki told me that the best bloggers were book bloggers and she was so right. From the bottom of my heart, Thank You. My Mom is a little more alert but still in a very weakened state. I have been trying to spend as much time with her as I can, plus picking up my sister and bringing her to the hospital to see Mom too. I haven’t read a page in I don’t know how long, because by the end of the day, when I do try to read while in bed, I think I am already asleep before I even get a chance to open the book. But family is a priority over anything. Thank you again and Happy Summer!!!!!!
