Musing Mondays (1 of 3)

MONDAY

Hosted by Miz B at Should Be Reading
Today’s Musing:
What does your bookshelf (or, what do your bookshelves) say about you to the people who come into your home?
My Response:
People visiting have made comments like “wow  do you have enough books”?, or “you must love to read” and then they will usually look at the synopsis’ of a book, and ask “was this good?  Mind if I borrow’?
However, they usually don’t see all of them.  On my PB shelf, there are 2 piles in depth of the shelf, so there are a lot hidden, even to me.  Visitors will also see what hubby and I went to school for because some of our college textbooks are in the bookcase too.
Overall, I would say that my bookcases say that I am an avid read with a wide range of genres.

Slapdash Sunday

SUNDAY

Congratulations winners of Impostor’s Daughter!!!  Just waiting for one of the winners to respond and then will send off an email to Anna at Hachettte so that you can look for your book in the mail.

Going to be another hot day in New England.  Our plans today are the same as yesterday…to relax and read while floating in the pool.  Hubby and I were out by and in the pool all afternoon yesterday and we had such a nice day…didn’t get as much reading done as I had planned to, because we were both in a talkative mood.

What are your plans today?  Anything exciting?

Slapdash Sunday is a day for your proverbial week ‘leftovers.’ Is there something you wanted to say, but just forgot? Is there something you want to write about, but isn’t worth a whole page? Do you have a random thought, funny or otherwise that needs to be written down?   That is what Slapdash Sunday is for!

Today’s Topic:
Gadgets for your blog.

I enjoy blog hopping, not only for reading others’ reviews, but to also see the newest and different gadgets on one’s blog.  I wonder how bloggers find these sites to add different gadget thingys.  Examples:  polls, quizzes, different images and footer tool bar to name a few.  If I see something on somebody’s blog, I usually email them and ask about the site in which they got their gadget.  Just this past week I sent off an email to Larissa at Welcome To Larissa’s Bookish Life to ask her about the tool bar and another item on her blog.  She was kind enough to help me.
The sites that I mostly use are Photo Bucket, Image Chef and HTML Basix.
How do you find gadgets to add to your blog?  What sites do you get your images from?  Are there any sites you would like to share.

A Bit of Me

SATURDAY
Photobucket
Good morning all !!  It is early here and the weather is supposed to be hot and humid later on.  So my plan is to get all my Saturday Computer To-Dos done and then grab my book, iced coffee and head on out to the backyard, get in the pool on my float and read.
Photobucket
So if you comment and it doesn’t show up quickly, you will know where I am.  What are your plans today?

From her blog:
We all leave our “footprint” on the world, in one way or another. We each, individually, do something or are someone that makes the world a little better just by being here. I created this weekly meme to get to know the blogging community I love just a bit better. To know what makes them tick, outside of books, that is. Each week I will post a question to be answered in the following week’s “A Bit of Me(Me)”. Check back each Saturday to get the info for next week’s post and link up with your current post right here.
Today’s glimpse:
So, let’s get started!

This Weeks Question: What is your favorite smell and why? Does it bring back memories?
Read more: http://www.theresabook.com/category/a-bit-of-meme/#ixzz0twAikgi1
A Bit of CMash:
It also reminds me of vacations, which we are so overdue for.

Then it would be scents of different foods.  My mom and grandmother were great cooks/bakers and I would love walking into the house smelling what they had just cooked and/or prepared.  Examples like homemade pasta dough for lasagna, blueberry and apple pies.

This one will sound strange but its the smell of gas.  That brings back vivid memories of my Dad.  He owned a service station and whenever I smell the scent, I think of him.

Do you have favorite smells, why does it trigger memories?

TODAY’S TWIST:
RIGHT THIS INSTANT, WHAT BOOK ARE YOU DYING TO GET YOUR HANDS ON (PAST, PRESENT, OR FUTURE)?
MY ANSWER:
I have quite a few in my TBR Review Pile that I am anxious to read, but can’t because I have to honor my “Review Policy” whereas I read in order of receiving.  To be honest, I can’t wait to read all of them (see right sidebar) but there are two that I am “DYING TO GET MY HANDS ON” and they are both “new” authors that I read their earlier books .

One is the manuscript for Titanic 2012 that was sent to me by the author, Bill Walker.  I read his earlier book back in February and loved it, A Note from an Old Acquaintance.  I am honored that he asked that I read his manuscript and give my honest opinion, even before it goes to press.

The second is also a “new” author, Vincent Zandri.  I read and reviewed his book,  Moonlight Falls, and it was like reading a Patterson book.  His newest, The Remains, is on bestseller lists already and getting rave reviews, but, again I have to wait and follow my “Review Policy” criteria.

Guess I will have to read faster so I can get to these 2 books.
