CSN Stores

I just went outside to get the mail and it is cold….brrrrrr….cold!!!  So to help me warm up, I went straight to my calendar to see how many more days until we leave for Aruba!!  But then that got me thinking, we need new luggage.  I am a 99% online shopper and since finding csn/stores.com, I know I will get quality items.  I have been browsing the Delsey luggage department and what an assortment there is.  Different sizes, weights brands, sets,  garment bags, carry on, accessories, etc. etc.  So many to choose from….this is not going to be easy…but will let you know….to be continued…..

This week’s question:
Even I read things other than books from time to time … like, Magazines! What magazines/journals do you read?

My answer:
lol  I have to laugh at this question.  I have mentioned on more than one occasion how the hubster does not read.  He is still on page iii of the Prologue of a book he bought 3 years ago.  But last year, he had some points from something he belongs to, and had to use or lose so he put it towards 2 magazines, which, you guessed it, he just about reads the cover.  So I get to read Time and People weekly.

From Lori’s site:
It struck me recently how much time I spend on this computer every day, blogging, chatting or playing games on Facebook, emailing friends and relatives, making cards and calendars, etc. etc. etc.
We depend on each other for book reviews, giveaways, encouragement, friendship, but how well do we really know each other?

So that is what this meme is all about, getting to know each other.
WEEK 21 QUESTIONS
1. What is the outside temperature where you are today?
28…..50 degrees colder than I want it to be!!!!
2. Do participate in any special winter sports or hobbies like skiing or snowmobiling, etc?
LOL  Lori you silly Girl!!!!  Can you picture me doing winter sports….or any sports for that matter
with 5 back operations and 4 knee operations under my belt and needing 1 more back proceedure and 2 toal knees. LOL  It would be hysterical just watching me try to stand up on skis!!!
3. If you had to choose between a week long stay in a mountain lodge with lots of snow, activities, friends, food and beverages or a week alone on a deserted white sand island with just a bag of books and food and water which would you choose?
Decision made…when we leaving….bags packed…when we leaving..oops missed the part about going alone…see you all when I get back   Bye!!!!

Review " To Have and To Kill" by Mary Jane Clark

TO HAVE AND TO KILL by Mary Jane Clark
Published by Harper Collins
ISBN 978-0-06-199554-5
At the request of LibraryThing, an ARC TPB was sent, at no cost to me for my honest opinion.
Synopsis (borrowed from back of book): The delicious first book in the acclaimed New York Times bestselling author’s new Wedding Cake Mystery series.
Piper Donovan never imagined that decorating wedding cakes could be so dangerous! A struggling actress with no immediate prospects and a recently broken engagement, Piper moves back in with her parents to take stock of her life. She steps tentatively into the family bakery business, and finds herself agreeing to create the wedding cake for the acclaimed star of a daytime television drama. But soon someone close to the bride-to-be is horribly murdered and it seems that somebody is ruthlessly determined to stop the wedding.
With the help of her former neighbor, Jack, a handsome FBI agent with a soft spot for the gorgeous cake maker, Piper moves closer to the truth. As she narrows in on a suspect, Piper realizes that it’s hot in in the kitchen that she may be able to handle…….
My Thoughts and Opinion: Before I give my thoughts and opinion, I have to be quite honest with you regarding some issues. This is the first book I have ever read by this author. And if you have followed this blog in the past, you know that I mainly read a more thriller-type mystery than a cozy. And I will now admit…..I have been missing out on some good books. Ms. Clark is definitely now on my radar and I have a lot of catching up to do when it comes to her books. I loved her writing style. Short chapters with tidbits of cliff hangers. Introducing characters with small hints of their personalities throughout the story line that could or would make them the prime suspect. In some cases, the reader knows what the outcome of a certain scene will be but it is still heart pounding waiting for it to happen. I would definitely put this in the category of “a couldn’t put down”, which I didn’t. I am now an official member of the cozy mystery genre thanks to Mary Jane Clark!! Bravo!!

THE PROPER CARE AND
MAINTENANCE OF FRIENDSHIP
Photobucket
by LISA VERGE HIGGINS
January 19th to February 2nd
SYNOPSIS (borrowed from B&N):
Rachel Braun was the inspiration to her group of friends, the one who lived each day to the fullest – and the one whose life was cut tragically short. Upon her untimely death, Rachel left letters for her three best friends challenging them to face their biggest fears.

Sarah, an international relief worker, must travel half way around the world to track down the only man she ever loved. Stay-at-home mom Kate must confront her fear of heights by skydiving and soon finds that her new hobby is affecting her once-tranquil marriage. And Jo, a media mogul voted “least likely to breed,” is given the most terrifying assignment of all: caring for Rachel’s orphaned and grieving little girl.
Even as these women mourn Rachel’s passing, her legacy lives on and their lives are enriched by a friend who, in many ways, knew them better than they knew themselves.
