I need to apologize for yesterday’s posting regarding the 200th follower.  When I had posted about it, there were 200 but when I signed on today, I was back to 199 followers.  So I guess I celebrated prematurely.  Thank you to those that congratulated me and have chosen to continue following this blog.  And to the one follower that left, I’m sorry that you chose not to follow anymore.  I just with I knew why.

To all the dads out there…..Happy Father’s Day…..and a SPECIAL wish goes out to hubby.  And I will be thinking of both my father and father-in-law who are no longer here.  My dad passed away when I was 16 and my father-in-law, a year ago.   God Bless Them

Slapdash Sunday is a day for your proverbial week ‘leftovers.’ Is there something you wanted to say, but just forgot? Is there something you want to write about, but isn’t worth a whole page? Do you have a random thought, funny or otherwise that needs to be written down?
That is what Slapdash Sunday is for!
Today I would like to open a topic up for discussion.  I wasn’t around for BBAW and really don’t know a lot about it.  I recently have seen it in my google reader so I went to investigate.  I read a bit about it, think the categories are great, and would even consider this blog in the “new blog category, however, I am having ambivalent thoughts on and about it.   I would think it was like when another blogger presents you with an award.  That is an honor to think a peer thinks your blog is special.  So isn’t the BBAW like the grandest of all awards.  To nominate yourself doesn’t quite seem right to me.  Does it then become a popularity contest?  So today I would like to hear your views.  What do you think about the BBAW?  Were you a participant last year?  Did other bloggers nominate you or did you put your blog up for the award?  Are you nominating yourself for this year’s award?  What are your thoughts and feelings on this topic?
 Let’s have a SlapdashPhotobucket !!!!!

Hosted by Kristen from Bookworming in the 21st Century
I don’t know where the time went yesterday.  I didn’t get as much reading in as I had planned to.  One thing that threw me off was that I got up later than usual and when that happens it makes me upset that I lost a couple of hours.  I am usually up by 5am but slept later than usual.  So here are my stats for Saturday:
Hours reading:  5
Challenge hours to date:  33.5

OMG !!! 200!!

I can’t believe it !!   I just became a member of the 200 club !!   I have 200 followers.   I am truly amazed !!  A bit of history for my newest followers.   I stumbled onto a book blog back around September/October.   Didn’t even know this world existed.   I clicked on their blogroll list and found more blogs, and kept clicking.   I was outside looking in.   I was inspired to create a page as a personal journal.   That alone was a miracle since I am not computer savvy at all.    The more blogs I found, the more I wanted to connect and become part of this neighborhood that had the same love as me, books !!   So I started out slowly, entering challenges, participating in memes.  My “personal journal” went public around November.   Then some very kind and experienced bloggers encouraged me to start accepting requested reviews.   My first one was in December.  And since then…as they say…is history.   I NEVER, NEVER thought that my blog would be where its at, with so many kind people that actually take the time to visit.   This weekend is truly special, not only am I  hosting my first ever giveaway but I have 200 book blogging friends…….So to all of my 200 followers, I say……..

Yesterday I didn’t get that much reading done.  My friend Donna, a friend of 30 years….wow….that’s a long time and to see it in writing makes me feel ancient) visited and we just sat and talked for hours about everything.  We even tried to solve world problems but didn’t quite accomplish that.  But we had fun doing it.  Back to the challenge, this is how many hours I read:
Yesterday:  6 hours
Challenge to date:  28.5 hours

FRIDAY

Hosted by An Island Life

 From An Island Life:
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
If you’d like to participate, visit An Island Life answer the question and then post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!
I apologize that this might be a lengthy response but with Father’s Day this weekend, I remember fond memories of my Dad.
  My question is:
Share a memory of you and your dad?
  My answer:
Even for me this is a hard question.  I have so many good memories even though my dad passed away when I was 16 years old.
I’ll share one that was near the end.  It was right before he had gone into the hospital for the last time.  He wanted to get out of the house, so I took him with me on some errands.  I drove, and after a while, he said to me, “Who do you think you are, Mario Andretti”? You have an awful heavy foot”. (for those who don’t remember he was a race car driver in the Indy 500)  And I looked at him and answered “No, I take after you”.  He gave me a smile/smirk and never said another word about my driving.  You see, when he was younger he was also a race car driver.

So, if you’d like to participate, just repost this on your blog, sign MckLinky on her site, and check out other blogs in MckLinky! Let’s connect and make new book bloggy friends!! So, if you consider yourself a book blogger, come join the fun!
Pretty please – Your blog should have content related to books, including, but not limited to book reviews.
