Today’s question:
Since my dog is turning 10 today … what animal-related books have you read? Which do you love? Do you have a favorite literary dog? (Snoopy, anyone?)
My answer:
I don’t typically read books that are “animal related” or where an animal is the main character.  However, as a child I did, such as Curious George, Snoopy, and others.

Recently, I did read a book, that will be for a giveaway here on my blog, that I have to admit was adorable.  It is the first book made for dogs titled The Bedtime Book For Dogs.  It’s a book that is perfectly illustrated and is for the purpose of an owner reading a bedtime story to their pet.  I gave my copy to my future dil, who calls it “her bonding time with Bronx, their weimaraner”.  I think it is also an educational tool for little ones to feel like “big boys and girls” to read the story to their pets.

Teaser Tuesday

Photobucket

Hosted by Miz B at Should Be Reading

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
*Grab your current read
*Open to a random page
*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
*BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
*Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

“Let’s take a drive over there.  You never know, if we push it, we might get her to assault one os us.”
Kitson took a compact from her handbag and reapplied her lipstick.  “I’ll toss you for it in the car,” she said.

Happy 4th and Monday Memes

Today’s question:
This week’s musing (courtesy of the BookCrazy Yahoo! group) asks…

Below is a link to an NPR discussion about the simple fact that there’s no way you can read, see and experience all the things that are available to be experienced. The two methods for dealing with it are culling (i.e., cutting out certain genres that don’t interest you, etc.) or surrender (i.e., just making peace with the facts and enjoying what you can in the time that you have).
http://www.npr.org/2011/06/27/137451477/you-cant-possibly-read-it-all-so-stop-trying
So, do you cull, or do you surrender? Or do you do both?
My answer:
I would say I do both.  I definitely cull and proud of it lol.  While I blog hop, visiting my blogging buddies, to see what they are reading, I will read their reviews, even though I know it is a genre I will never read. However, I feel it allows me to know the blogger a little bit better by what they are reading, what they like and how they write their review.  I definitely surrender to the genre that brings me enjoyment and it is evident.  I do not have a tbr pile, I have an oversized 5 shelf tbr bookcase that is stuffed with books waiting to be read.  And I blame it all on blogging  lol.  Since I found this great community, my list has tripled.  What saddens me, at times, is when I look at the books on those shelves and wonder if I will even make a dent, especially at my age.  That is why I have renamed my list to “my tbr bucket list”.  And since today is also Mailbox Monday, I am off to add more books to the list lol.

July is being hosted by Gwen from A Sea of Books
Mailbox Monday was created by Marcia of A girl and her books and is now on tour.
According to Marcia, “Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.”
First, I want to thank Gwen for taking the time to host Mailbox Monday this month, one of my favorite memes.
