Teaser Tuesday

TUESDAY
Photobucket

Hosted by Miz B at Should Be Reading

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
*Grab your current read
*Open to a random page
*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
*BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
*Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

How are things going up there?”
“Not good.  They think someone killed my father.”
“What?  Are you serious?  Who?”
“Don’t know.  Chris maybe.  But he’s gone.”

Monday Memes

MONDAY

This week’s question:
Do you ever find scenes from previous books you’ve read popping into your head at random times? If so, does it bother you? If it doesn’t happen to you, why do you think that is?

My answer:
Yes.  But I can’t say it bothers me, it just justifies that the 5/5 rating I gave it was accurate. When a book stays with me long after I finish the last page and something in real life triggers a scene that either I created in my mind or reminds me of a particular book, to me means it was a phenomenal read.  Two come to mind right away.  Whenever I see the commercial for, I think it it is, the Marriot Hotel where a man is spinning plates on sticks, Spinning by Michael Baron instantly comes to mind.  And now whenever I hear anything about Nantucket, I think of Beachcombers by Nancy Thayer.  If an author has that ability, that’s an author that try to read every book he/she writes.

Mailbox Monday was created by Marcia of A girl and her books and is now on tour.

According to Marcia, “Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.”

Sunday’s Shining Star

MOTHER DAY
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!!
Since today is Mother’s Day, I will be visiting with my Mom, Mother-In-Law and sons, and will be away from the computer, I have decided that Sunday’s Shining Star will be taking a day off but will return next week with another one of our blogging friends.  And since it has been 3 weeks, that we haven’t had one of our “gab sessions”, I am looking forward to seeing everyone next week and catching up with all of you.  But for today…..Have a Wonderful Day with your families!!!!

Saturday Memes

SATURDAY
Photobucket
Hosted by Danielle at There’s A Book

From Danielle’s blog:
We all leave our “footprint” on the world, in one way or another. We each, individually, do something or are someone that makes the world a little better just by being here. I created this weekly meme to get to know the blogging community I love just a bit better. To know what makes them tick, outside of books, that is. Each week I will post a question to be answered in the following week’s “A Bit of Me(Me)”. Check back each Saturday to get the info for next week’s post and link up with your current post right here.

This week’s question:  What is your favorite thing about yourself?
Ohhhhh noooo…….Danielle is back to her “favorite” as in “just one” questions again lol.  And since I am not a “just one” answer type of person, I hope she doesn’t mind that I am going to bend the rules a little.

I have been told, and also believe, that I have 3 positive traits.

I feel that I am a good listener and have always offered a shoulder for family and friends when it is needed.  I also believe by being a good listener is another form of education.  I have gained knowledge on aspects of life that I did not know about by listening to people talking about themselves, their lives, jobs, religion, beliefs, opinions, lifestyles, cultures, etc. etc.
And along with being a good listener, I believe being compassionate, goes hand in hand.  This may have come from my training to become a nurse or just growing up and having a sister with cerebral palsy.

Another trait I have is that I am loyal.  When someone confides in me and asks and/or tells me not to say anything, I don’t.  To give an example, just recently someone told me something, which her mother had told me the same thing over 30 years ago but asked me not to say anything unless her daughter mentioned it.  When I told her I already knew, she couldn’t believe that I had never said anything and had kept my promise to her mother for all those years.

What about you?  What is your favorite thing about yourself?
